In this episode, Laurie, Wayne, and Doug head over to the Sokol Auditorium where rehersals are taking place for Stephen King's The Shining - A Play. Listen in as we discover the amazing story of how Director Jason Levering is turning his long time dream into reality and how he is doing it all with the blessing of the man himself, Stephen King. It's all a benefit for the Benson Theater and is on a limited run. From their facebook page:
“The Shining” will be the Benson Theatre’s first major production, and we could not be more excited about what we have in store. What better way to introduce the Benson Theater into the world of performing arts than with a big, bold, innovative new work from and for our community.
Helping to advise the production are Tom Elkins, director of the film “The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of Georgia”, and Kevin Lawler, Producing Artistic Director of the Great Plains Theatre Conference and co-founder of the Blue Barn Theatre. Lighting design is being developed by Tommy Wilson, Charlie Wagner, and the rest of the team at JSAV. Our set designer is Kit Gough, who has worked in the Omaha theatre community for several years, most recently as the set designer for “Seussical The Musical” at The Rose Theatre. Providing the artwork for our marketing is local artist Jeremy Caniglia, whose beautiful and terrifying work can be seen gracing the covers of books by authors such as William Peter Blatty (40th anniversary edition of “The Exorcist”), Douglas Clegg, Peter Straub, Max L Brooks, Anne Rice, and yes, Stephen King.
The play will be directed by Jason Levering, from a script written by Levering and fellow writer Aaron Sailors and approved by Mr. King.

On February 20, 2003, one of the deadliest fires in American history took place at the Station Nightclub in West Warwick, Rhode Island. The pandemonium started when the band Great White's pyrotechnics ignited the nightclub, killing 100 people and devastating the lives of hundreds more.
My guest tonight is bestselling author and three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Scott James, whose new book, Trial By Fire investigates all the central figures with firsthand accounts, interviews, and court documents.
Scott explores the rush to judgment about what happened that left the victims, their families, and a community desperate for justice.
Although the fire itself lasted minutes, the search for the truth would take years. TRIAL BY FIRE: A Devastating Tragedy, 100 Lives Lost, and a 15-Year Search for Truth with my guest Scott James.

Necronomicast
02/01/21 • 76 min
Hello Lovebirds! On this episode of The Necronomicast, I welcome back to the program writer/producer Mark Onspaugh. I had Mark on a few episodes ago with his "Christmas Ghost Stories". That episode was so well received, that I invited Mark back to chat about the dark history of Valentine's Day and highlight his book entitled Dark Valentines, a collection of writings and short stories. Mark will read two stories, a short one about the budding of a new love, and a long form story about the nostalgia of a long lost love. Throw in a discussion about the odd relationships in Peanuts cartoons, and a visit from the ghost of Chet Baker, and you have yourself a wonderful way for you and your sweetheart to spend an hour of your time.
