She served on the Governor's Commission for Safe and Prepared Schools (KCSPS) whose advocacy efforts led to the creation of a Center for Safe and Prepared Schools in Kansas, in 2010. Linda Kalekas has 38 years experience in critical care, trauma, and school nursing and is currently a health services administrator for the Clark County School District, in southern Nevada, the 5th largest in the U.S. She earned a post-master's certificate in School Safety and Emergency Management in 2010, and served on the Nevada S.P.A.R.T.A.N Coalition to help all Nevada school districts develop an all hazards planning approach to prepare for school-based disasters.
