The article I read in this episode is entitled "A Daughter's Choice", written 3 years before my Papa passed on. Choosing to love someone is hard, losing someone you love is harder 'cause when that time comes and he's gone, you're left with no choice.
Hope this piece encourages us to make wise choices while it's not too late.

Who influences you the most? What makes the greatest impact on who you are? Your parents, your school, your nationality, your friends, your values, your faith?
Experiences, the most moving ones also contribute a lot to who we are. The loss of a loved one, a heartbreak, failure in school, a tragic accident, betrayal. All these can influence who we become, and who we don't want to be (but sometimes still become!).
Am I writing all these just to intrigue you about the next episode? Maybe.

For the next episodes, I will be reading some articles I wrote in the Women on the Journey and Women of Significance books published by Church Strengthening Ministry, Inc.
I wrote this when my second child Nikita was around 4 years old. I shared how a pregnant/young/any(!) mom like me (then) would have these little wishes in our hearts about how our baby will look like or turn out to be. Nikita is now a 23yo Artist, lovely lovely daughter of the King. And wow, she turned out to be beyond even my big wishes!

Softly launching Nanay's Notes podcast today, Mother's Day! Here's a piece I shared at the International Women's Day online celebration of Women Supporting Women Philippines. The women who gave their feedback boosted me to start this podcast. I shared my heart here: how pandemic-sized challenges teach us to give full surrender to the One Who is fullest, largest and yet size-less. In immeasurable ways, I hope you'll be encouraged and keep listening to the next episodes!
P.S. Though this piece was delivered 2 years ago (2021), and now some of us have been easing into going back to pre-pandemic lifestyles, some of us are still uncertain and extra cautious. As I launch this podcast (May 2023), the Covid cases in Manila have been increasing again. Let's remember the lessons we've learned.

Life is tough. Transitions can be haunting and daunting while turbulence after turbulence can happen around and inside us.

Changes are stressful no matter how you welcome them.

In this episode, I hope to answer questions like:

How do I help my kids face conflicts and crossroads?

How do I get to know my child more?

I am teaching my child, and training her, what else do I need to do?

Why am I having a hard time letting go of them?

“Helping Your Child Face Transitions”, an article I wrote for Family Wise Asia, is not just for parents. I pray that what I have to share in this piece will be helpful for all of us to understand and appreciate how we were raised and why we’ve turned out to be who we are now.

Had a super great time last Saturday at the “You’re a TEArrific Mom” event by the Proverbs 31.10 women of GCF Ortigas. Here is my talk on motherhood entitled “A SMother’s Love” which isn't just for biological moms, but also for adoptive and spiritual moms. I hope that even teachers, mentors and coaches will be able to pick up a nugget of encouragement or two from this message. Most of this episode was recorded LIVE so you will be hearing a lot of children, and noise in the background. I also requested the guests to help me welcome you, listeners. Of course it is my husband's turn to be coerced to join me in this special episode: the launch of Nanay's Nose! Featuring events happening around us, and the stories revolving around the experience.
For this premier episode, I got to talk to my hubby Tot about the creative process in designing a book cover. This interview was part of a 3-book series launch held in Alsip, Illinois last August 12. The book titles are "Called", "Heard" and "Loved" written by Farah Briones. The books are available in both Kindle and paperback formats.
I am reading excerpts from each of the three books here in this show. I also got to chat with Tot about the purple booklet project entitled "The Woman I Really Wanted To Be Is Not Me" we once did, and how different it was for a designer to do just book covers from working on the inside pages too. Oh, yeah! I will be reading this booklet in our next episode!
I am also thrilled to have included a childhood memory as told by Angel Tuazon-Espinosa, who was once a professional child ice-skater!
