3.03. I Twisted Myself About Like the Twisted Ones.
My Sister's TBR
02/28/25 • 54 min
Greetings, book friends! It's your (self-proclaimed) favorite book-obsessed sisters here, back with another recap of our February reading adventures. This month brought a whole slew of emotions, from "ew, romance" to "ooh, romance," with plenty of laughs and questionable life choices along the way.
The Seven Year Slip: A Feel-Good Romance to Cure Your Cynicism
We kicked off February with a bang, diving headfirst into The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston. This book was a serious contender for top book of the year, and it's only February! The story follows Clementine as she navigates love, loss, and a magical apartment that connects her with a charming stranger from the past. Trust us, this book is the definition of a feel-good romance, and it might even make you believe in love again (no matter how cynical you are).
Dramione Fanfiction: Who Needs Plot When You Have Filth?
But February wasn't all sunshine and roses. We also tackled some seriously spicy Dramione fanfiction, because who needs plot when you have that much filth? We're talking daydream lockets, erotic hallucinations, and enough possessiveness to make us question our sanity (and our standards). And let's not forget Ron Weasley, who once again proved that he's the ultimate "dickwad" (sorry, Rupert Grint).
The Twisted Ones: A Mild Thriller with a Side of Humor
Of course, no month would be complete without a featured read, and this time around, it was The Twisted Ones by T. Kingfisher. Now, we love T. Kingfisher, but we have to admit, this one didn't quite live up to the hype. We were promised horror, but all we got was a mild thriller with a few creepy moments and a whole lot of humor. Don't get us wrong, the book had its moments, but we weren't exactly quaking in our boots.
A Month of Bookish Adventures
Tune in to hear about the other books we tackled this month; Fae shadow daddies, assassins, talking fetuses? You don’t want to miss the books we have lined up!
So, there you have it, folks. Another month of reading, laughing, and questioning our taste in books (and men). We'll be back in 2 weeks with more bookish banter, but in the meantime, keep those pages turning and don't forget to follow us on Instagram @MySistersTBR!

2.16. Books in Bloom
My Sister's TBR
09/02/24 • 85 min
Welcome back to My Sister's TBR! Well, August has been a mad dash of all things book excitement, and we cannot wait to share this month's wrap-up with you. This episode jumps into our recent reads; a surprising new release; and to talk about It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover-the book and the movie adaptation.
August Reads: A Mix of Emotions and Genres
We have read a total of ten books this month, and let me tell you, the range of emotions we experienced was intense! We kicked off with Me (Moth) by Amber McBride, a haunting yet beautiful YA novel in verse that left a lasting impact. The story, with its themes of mental health and identity, was so powerful that it easily became a contender for our top read of the year.
On a different note, we dived into Lovely Bad Things by Trisha Wolfe, a dark romance thriller that gave us all the spooky vibes. Despite its eerie atmosphere, we found ourselves completely engrossed in the twisted narrative.
Surprise Release: J.K. Rowling’s Hidden Treasure
We couldn’t resist sharing a bit of unexpected book news—J.K. Rowling quietly released two new books, The Wizarding Archive: Volumes 1 and 2. This collection of writings from the Harry Potter universe is packed with 80 articles and anecdotes, answering some of the most perplexing questions fans have had for years. If you’ve ever wondered about the little details in the wizarding world, this might be a treasure trove you don’t want to miss.
Our Featured Read: It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
We saved the best (and most emotionally charged) for last. Our deep dive into It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover brought up so many feelings. This was a re-read for both of us, and the story hit just as hard the second (or third) time around. While we love Colleen Hoover’s storytelling, we also acknowledge the importance of content warnings for readers. This book deals heavily with domestic violence, and it's crucial for readers to approach it with awareness.
For those curious about the film adaptation, let’s just say we have opinions. But we’ll leave the movie talk for our podcast episode—stay tuned!
Wrapping Up
August was a wild ride of emotions, from heartwarming to heartbreaking reads, and we couldn’t be more excited to see what September brings. Whether you’re into dark romances, YA poetry, or diving back into the wizarding world, we hope our wrap-up inspires your next read.
Until next time, happy reading!

2.05. Crime Scenes and Love Scenes
My Sister's TBR
03/15/24 • 47 min
Welcome back to another episode of My Sister’s TBR! Join us, your (self-proclaimed) favorite podcast-sister-duo, as we gush over our anticipated releases of March, fill each other in on our current reads, and generally just hype each other up over silly things. Arguably the most important job as a sister lol.
Rebecca is eyeballs deep in her Thriller Mystery era, so our romantasy featured read has sort of taken a back burner. Will she find the will to dip her toes back into the romance waters again before the month is up? Only time will tell....Stacey is keeping things simple this month with focusing on the featured read and doing a lot of behind the scenes work on the podcast! It’s a race against time for both sisters to complete the necessary readings for podcast and book club. Tune into Episode 6 at the end of the month to see if it was a success or failure!
