THIS EPISODE:
My guest in this episode, is a 19-year, active-duty Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army.
He is assigned to the Pentagon and Headquarters Department of the Army as the MEDEVAC and Fixed Wing Action Officer.
He has Deployed 42 total months - 4 times to combat- twice in Iraq and twice in Afghanistan.
He also deployed for two humanitarian relief efforts, post-Hurricane Irma & Maria.
To say he’s seen war is an understatement.
He has seen it all. What is so special about my guest today is not only the honor of knowing someone who serves our country
but that he has a heart for not only protecting our country but future generations -
the youth of America.
He is keenly aware that there is another war that rages-
it’s the cultural battle aimed at our children.
This is an episode you will want to share. I urge Military families and every parent to hear this episode.

MY NEW NORM Podcast- S4 E10
Guest: TOMMY DYER- CFO
Episode: GBA SHIPS
Host: BARRY SCOTT YOUNG
Produced by BEAR- NOOGA PRODUCTIONS
GBA Ships operates Doulos Hope and Logos Hope
Serving others with ocean-going ships began in 1970 with the purchase of the original Logos. Since then the ships have visited over 480 different ports in more than 150 countries and territories and welcomed over 50 million visitors on board. Our goal is to share knowledge, help and hope in every port we visit.

Our ships visit each port of call for several weeks at a time and open the gangways to hundreds and often thousands of visitors every day. The floating book fairs offer many diverse titles, providing many visitors their first-ever opportunity to choose from the wide range of quality literature.

An international crew and staff of volunteers from around 60 different countries live and work on the ships, devoting one or more years of their lives to serving on board. The ship people promote literacy and education, cross-cultural co-operation, and social awareness, and reflect God’s compassion for the world in the ports and countries they visit. Ship teams go into surrounding areas to provide aid and community care, partnering with local community groups to bring hope to people, whatever their circumstance, culture or background.

Guest: Cecilia De Los Santos
Episode: Resilience
Host: BARRY SCOTT YOUNG
Produced by BEARANOOGA PRODUCTIONS
———————————————————————
We all have our own stories of change and challenges, and it is my hope these episodes will provide encouragement. I hope you will listen and will then share this podcast with others.
What if you were faced with life-altering health challenges and the responsibility of caring for your aging parents at the same time? In this episode, we bring you the inspiring story of Cecilia de los Santos, whose journey from San Antonio to Colorado is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Cecilia's career transitions, from managing a t-shirt shop to taking on a demanding role at the Summit County Sheriff's Office, showcase her ability to thrive in ever-changing environments.
Cecilia's story takes a profound turn with her battle against a life-threatening tumor and the subsequent chronic illnesses that followed. She provides a raw account of her daily struggles, managing panhypopituitarism and secondary adrenal insufficiency, and the strict regimen of steroids that keep her alive. Her experience highlights the resilience required to navigate the complexities of chronic illness and the relentless will to adapt and survive.
But Cecilia's journey doesn't end there. She shares the emotional and physical demands of moving back home in 2018 to care for her elderly parents, despite losing a significant portion of her vision. Her candid reflections on the challenges of caregiving, from medical advocacy to dealing with dementia, offer invaluable insights and encouragement. In her path to self-care and finding new creative outlets after the loss of her parents, Cecilia exemplifies the strength and grace needed to embrace life's transitions. Join us for a heartfelt conversation that underscores the importance of resilience and self-care.
Resilience-
Resilience is the process and outcome of successfully adapting to difficult or challenging life experiences, especially through mental, emotional, and behavioral flexibility and adjustment to external and internal demands.

MY NEW NORM Pocast- S5 E11
Guest: Steve Kramer
Episode: Against All Odds
Host: Barry Scott Young
Show Notes:
In this episode, you'll hear from Steve Kramer. Steve is a walking miracle. He was born two-and-a half months premature with Cerebral Palsy. The doctors did not have much hope for him...but God had other plans. Steve has seen God’s faithfulness as he has been a radio disc jockey, TV news anchor/reporter, pastor, missionary and motivational speaker. He feels his most important role in life is to be a godly husband and father to his kids.
Steve and Julie met while Steve was speaking at a church in Oregon and they got married in 2005. Julie has a background in ministry and missions as well. She served at a women’s shelter and orphanage in Mexico before meeting Steve.
Steve and his family are headed back to the The Netherlands sometime this year as full time missionaries!

-Fixed Mindset vs Growth Mindset Notes-
Growth Mindset:
Those who have a growth mindset believe that their abilities can be developed through hard work and dedication, which can lead to increased motivation and a willingness to take on new challenges.
These are the key elements of a growth mindset:
1. Intelligence can be developed. A fixed mindset might say intelligence is static.
2. Embrace challenges. ...
3. Persist in the face of setbacks. ...
4. See effort as a path to mastery. ...
5. Learn from criticism. ...
5 1⁄2. Find inspiration in the success of others.
Fixed Mindset:
Those with a fixed mindset tend to view their abilities as being set in stone, which can lead to a fear of failure or a reluctance to take on challenges.
People with a fixed mindset believe individual traits cannot change, no matter how much effort you put in, and are more likely to:
1. Believe intelligence and talent are static.
2. Avoid challenges to avoid failure.
3. Ignore feedback from others.
4. Feel threatened by the success of others.
5. Hide flaws so as not to be judged by others.
This has been a presentation of the
