His investigation of wrongful conviction cases began with his work in the Nicarico case in 1988 that lead to the exoneration of Rolando Cruz and Alejandro Hernandez, who had been sentenced to die for a murder committed by serial killer, Brian Dugan. As a defense investigator, Bill worked with Ed Cisowski, a zone commander for the Illinois State Police and developed tire track evidence that linked Dugan to the murder of Jeanine Nicarico. His investigation was featured in the true crime book Victims of Justice, by Thomas Frisbie and Randy Garrett, Avon Books, New York, copyright 1998.

Crimespree Magazine said that "Aimee Hix is an up-and-coming author everyone should watch." A 2019 Lefty Award Nominee , 2019 Shamus Award Nominee, A 2018 Agatha Award Nominee for Best First Novel for What Doesn't Kill You (A Willa Pennington, PI Mystery Book 1) In this episode, she also plays homage to Robert B. Parker and the Sunny Randle series. After twenty years as a federal contractor, she retired and turned to murder. Fictionally, of course. Aimee lives with her family, three dogs, and all her killer thoughts. It is my pleasure to welcome Aimee Hix to the show.
