My Dad Used to Play Hockey Episode #8 - Grant Fuhr
05/14/21 • 35 min
“They all think it's fun and games, and that other problems in life don't exist. Which is not true, sometimes they are amplified.”
“You start to think. And as a goalie the worst thing you can do is think”
It barely seems fair that the Edmonton Oilers squad from the 1980's, with names like Gretzky, Kurri and Messier, would also have a hall of fame goaltender.
But they did.
Grant Fuhr. He had some legendary battles with the Flyers.
He also battled addiction. And overcame it. He's an inspiration and a gentle reminder that heroes have struggles too.
Grant Fuhr. NHL legend. Get to know him.

My Dad Used to Play Hockey Episode #10 - Bryan Trottier
“Anytime anyone looked at me, he beat the crap out of 'em”
“We were young and dumb and i think that helps.”
“Thank you, Mario!”
I am programmed to hate him. As a Flyers fan Bryan Trottier is on the long list (and growing longer) of players you immediately booed.
An Islander. A Penguin.
Six Stanley Cups as a player. One more as a coach.
I like him now. After this interview, how could you not? He's an absolute joy.
One of the greatest of all time. A true NHL treasure.

My Dad Used to Play Hockey Episode #11 - Bobby Clarke
“The majority of players never win the Cup. When you accomplish it, that's something, that's not matchable.”
“I took the Flyers general manager job anyway, and wasn't ready for it.”
"My loyalty was always to Mr. Snider. I doubt I would have come back if it wasn't for him.”
THE Captain. The greatest Flyer. My dad's teammate. Just a regular Flin Flon native.
The leader of the Broad Street Bullies.
Bobby Clarke. 47 years after the first cup.
Get to know him a little bit better.
