Ep. 6: Don Barnes (38 Special) - Music Buzzz Podcast

ABOUT DON BARNES (38 Special):

Don Barnes is the consummate musician. He is a gifted singer, songwriter, performer, guitarist, instrumentalist, and producer. However, his talent is not merely the result of inherent genius, but of years of persistence, determination, self-discipline, sweat, and good old-fashioned hard work.

After more than three decades together, 38 Special continue to bring their signature blast of Rock to over 100 cities a year. Their many Gold and Platinum album awards stand in testament to the endurance of a legendary powerhouse.

With sales in excess of 20 million, most associate the band with their arena-rock pop smashes--- check this out: “Hold On Loosely,” “Rockin’ Into the Night,” “Caught Up in You,” “Fantasy Girl,” “If I’d Been the One,” "Like No Other Night," “Back Where You Belong,” “Chain Lightnin’,” “Second Chance,” "Wild Eyed Southern Boys," "Teacher, Teacher," "Somebody Like You,"and more – Timeless hits that remain a staple at rock radio, immediately recognizable from the first opening chord, and paving the way to their present-day touring regimen.

Also, Barnes recently released a shelved solo album "Ride The Storm" of which we dig into the story behind that.......

Ep. 8: Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (Lickerish Quartet, Jellyfish, Beck & more)

ABOUT ROGER JOSEPH MANNING JR:

Roger Joseph Manning Jr. has enjoyed a long and fruitful career as a touring keyboardist, session player, arranger, and producer. His latest project is the band The Lickerish Quartet.

Roger's arranging career began as early as 1989 when he began arranging string, brass, wind and vocal ensembles for his first band, Jellyfish, which he co-founded. Out of the ashes of Jellyfish arose his second co-founded project, Imperial Drag from 1994-97, which saw overwhelming overseas success, particularly in England and Japan. From 1995-97 he co-founded the all-vintage electronic duo known as The Moog Cookbook. This group was started solely as a means of having a forum to express its love for the bygone era of vintage synthesizers and exotic keyboards. Ultimately it became his calling card for longtime friend and collaborator, Beck Hansen. Roger began his over 20-year and still-active relationship as Beck’s sideman, touring the world and recording critically acclaimed albums. Not to mention work with other artists such as Fun!, Paramore and others.
