Murder, My Dude - Episode 139 - Dating Game Killer, My Dude
play

08/19/22 • 92 min

On a 1978 Episode of the hit show The Dating Game, Bachelor #1 was harboring a horrible, horrible secret.

Rodney Alcala’s downward spiral started with a broken home, and while his story has made true crime headlines, his sickening crime spree should perhaps be most remembered for how many chances the vicious murderer was inexplicably given. This week, we explore his story.

BUT FIRST! This Week In Murder takes a closer look at recent litigation in a pair of stories featuring an Instagram/OnlyFans model and the accuser of a landmark Civil Rights figure, respectively.

And, as always, we close with a rousing game of Who Died The Worst?

Keep ahead of the true crime curve and get the latest scoop before the newest Netflix True Crime miniseries by listening to Jackson and B.P. covering the ongoing saga involving Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell as they await trial for the deaths of Lori’s daughter and stepson, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow.

But before we delve into the Sins of Our Mother, we’ll take a look at a tragic triple murder suicide in Oklahoma and a kiss gone horribly wrong in Tennessee during This Week In Murder.

Then, as always, we finish with a game of Who Died The Worst!

Murder, My Dude - Episode 141 - Adrienne, My Dude (Adrienne Shelly)
play

09/16/22 • 83 min

Join us this week as Murder, My Dude goes Hollywood!

Well, goes off-Broadway at the very least.

Adrienne Shelly was on the precipice of the biggest success of her career behind the camera when it was all taken away from her by an unlikely assailant. If her husband hadn’t tirelessly pursued the truth, her killer would have likely never faced justice.

This week, we cover their story.

BUT FIRST! This Week in Murder becomes This Week in Memphis.

Then, as always, we close with a game of Who Died The Worst?

Podcasts may be taking over for terrestrial radio as the world’s preferred form of audio entertainment, but that’s not stopping us from taking a look at the life and untimely death of a rising radio star, and the play and movie(s) it inspired.

Alan Berg had a talent for making great radio. Unapologetic for his politics and Jewish faith, Berg battled and belittled callers up until his untimely assassination in 1984. Berg’s killers were a group of white supremacists who had banded together to strike out against Jewish Americans, and we explore their horrific actions as well.

But first, we take a look at Talk Radio, the 1988 Oliver Stone film written by and starring Eric Bogosian not-so-loosely based on Berg’s life and death.

Elsewhere on the show, This Week In Murder explores another cold case solved and an ambush on a man recently released from jail, and it’s hunting season in an outdoorsy edition of Who Died The Worst!

Murder, My Dude - Episode 30 - The AT, My Dude
play

08/06/19 • 84 min

In their 30th episode, Jackson and B.P. step out of the murder cabin and onto the trail, the Appalachian Trail, more specifically! Clocking in at over 2000 miles long, the trail, commonly called The A.T., has seen its fair share of murders in its day, and this episode explores two of the more grisly attacks. As an added bonus, our hosts play a new game typically reserved for the Patreon after show: Florida Man of the Week features to actual strange happenings from the Sunshine State and one fabrication. Can you spot the fake?

Murder, My Dude - Episode 58 - Unicorn Killer, My Dude
play

04/02/20 • 109 min

Murder, My Dude returns with a lover's quarrel turned into an international manhunt. Ira Einhorn was a central part of Philadelphia counterculture from the Summer of Love all the way up until the mid-seventies, but when things turned South in a tumultuous five-year relationship, he was revealed to be a bad neighbor, an even worse boyfriend, and a surprisingly hard to nab fugitive. This week's show takes you from his beginnings as a Jewish kid in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia to the prolonged legal battle waged to ensure he faced justice.

Elsewhere on the show, This Week In Murder explores the newest addition to Bob Dylan's legendary catalog and an unbelievable story of a mother and daughter both taken before their time.

And, because they can't all be gems, we end the show with, quite possibly, the worst-ever Who Died The Worst?

Murder, My Dude - Episode 50 - Jack The Ripper, My Dude
play

12/19/19 • 96 min

Season two comes to an end with our biggest dive into a featured topic ever. Jack The Ripper, the grandfather of all serial killers, is still at the tip of tongues 130 years after his crime spree began. The first half of this episode takes a look at the most famous whodunit of all-time, while the second half breaks down the list of suspects and tries to unmask the man who terrorized Whitechapel in the Autumn of 1888.

Meanwhile, Jackson and B.P. are terrorized by their greatest adversary of all time: BASIC MATH!

We'll be off for a couple weeks after this, but be sure to be there when Season 3 launches in January! In the meantime, make sure to stay until the end (after the ending music stops, hint, hint) for something extra special to tide you over.

Murder, My Dude - Episode 60 - Mudman, My Dude
play

04/16/20 • 130 min

Murder, My Dude gets down and dirty this week with a look at one of Pennsylvania's most notorious outlaw bikers: Robert "Mudman" Simon. A founding member of the PA Chapter of the Warlocks motorcycle gang, Simon spent a great deal of his adult life in prison, and almost all of his time as a free man raising unimaginable amounts of hell. Once behind bars, he met the opposite side of the same coin, an equally despicable murderer. When the two crossed paths, only one would walk out alive.

Elsewhere on the show, This Week In Murder explores a TMZ report of an ex-NFL star reportedly being eyed in a double murder for hire investigation and the tale of a good cop gone bad. We also have a transportation-themed edition of Who Died The Worst?

Oh yeah, and a month's worth of quarantine has gotten us positively stir-crazy! That means more side tangents and rants than you can shake a stick at! Countless names are made fun of. We discuss obscure thrift stores and supermarkets. Learn the story of the 10 cent (or was it 50 cent?) loveseat! Oh yeah, and Christopher Guest movies! How does it all tie together? Listen and find out.

Murder, My Dude is back to wake you up from your turkey coma with another with a podcast loaded to the gills with true crime comedy goodness!

Before that, however, Jackson Welles takes a moment to share his love for his new favorite show: the Starz hit Outlander.

Then it’s on to This Week In Murder, where we discuss the major developments in two major cases: the Ahmaud Arbery murder and the manhunt for Brian Laundrie. We also cover the story of an innocent man freed after decades behind bars.

From there, it’s on to the main topic of conversation. The “Born to Raise Hell” tattoo on the arm of Richard Speck proved to be accurate... to a degree. This week, we take a look at the making of a mass murderer, as we explore the life and times of the man behind one of the most brutal spree killings in American history.

And it wouldn’t be Murder, My Dude if we didn’t end with a game of Who Died the Worst?!

The first Murder, My Dude of 2022 is positively packed to the gills with true crime comedy goodness!

And it start’s with a heaping helping of This Week In Murder - including a briefing on the sentencing of Ahmaud Arbery’s killers and Robert Durst’s death (spoiler: he’s still dead). From there, we take a deeper dive in two cold cases finally brought to an end: one with an accused killer being brought to justice, the other with one being unmasked beyond the grave.

From there, it’s our main topic of conversation in this episode: the tragic, senseless killing of 80’s TV star Rebecca Schaeffer.

And then, to wrap it all up, we play another game of Who Died The Worst!
