Too Close For Comfort

***TRIGGER WARNING*** Have you ever wondered how closely your kids are paying attention to you when you say things like "Do as your elders say" or "Mind your manners" or even "You don't question when an adult is speaking to you" Jessie Lunsford's dad taught his daughter all of these aspects as a sign of respect to her elders. And, she took them to heart.. Every time he said them.. And in turn? She became the perfect pedophile's victim..
The Lunsford family was just living their regular lives, going about their everyday routine. The family dog, Corky? He was loved by everyone who lived in the house-hold. There was absolutely no way for the Lunsford family to know that they would be the target of a sexual pedophile who they had no way of knowing; lived right next door to them. How would they be able to guess that? No one would guess that. This family would lose their beloved daughter, grand-daughter, child neighbor, and friend to the hands of a man that took great pleasure in harming and sexually abusing young, unassuming, well mannered girls. The police in this case would spend entirely too much time focusing on the people that lived INSIDE the Lunsford's house, instead of focusing their attention on the people that lived NEXT to the Lunsford house.
After this you'll want to hug your kids a little tighter and kiss them a little more. But, always make sure that they know that IT IS OK to say "NO" to some adults, sometimes. Who would have ever guessed that you, as a parent; teaching your kids to listen to their elders, and to mind their manners could turn into something this brutal and sad? Absolutely no one, could..
