Movies That Made Us Gay

"Never send a rose unless dyed black as a warning." We watched Jawbreaker (1999) with the fablous Thomas Dekker and we killed the teen dream. Deal with it. Darren Stein wrote and directed this candy colored fantasy and we are all the gayer for it. Rose McGowan absolutely devours every line she delivers (and there are some doozys) with Rebecca Gayheart and Julie Benz giving us prototype mean girls. Judy Greer kills it as Fern Mayo/Vylette and the supporting cast of Pam Grier, Carol Kane, Jeff Conaway (and a couple of "Carrie" cameos) are *chefs kiss*. Jawbreaker is inconic and if you ever said Rose McGowan was your crush - you're gay now. We don't make the rules. "Lifes a bitch, then you die."

135. Pretty Woman with special guest Chris Rosson

“Well color me happy! There’s a sofa in here for two!” We watched Pretty Woman (1990) with our friend Chris Rosson and we want the fairy tale. Julia Roberts and Laura San Giacomo are friendship goals. OK so they’re both sex workers and Kit De Luca (San Giacomo) may or may not be a junkie with zero to no money management skills. But they got each other. And Vivian Ward (Roberts) is the original “hooker with a heart of gold.” Richard Gere plays Edward Lewis a little tightly wound but hey it was the 90’s and he had some sort of vague high pressure job. It’s still hard to believe that Disney had their fingerprints anywhere near this movie, but the script is charming and director Garry Marshall turned what could have been a dark cautionary tale into one of the most memorable rom-coms of the 90s. “Welcome to Hollywood. What’s your dream?” Thanks for listening and don't forget to subscribe, rate and review us on Apple Podcasts!

137. Terminator 2: Judgment Day with special guest Lucas Hazlitt

"I need your clothes, your boots and your motorcycle." We watched Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) with the very funny Lucas Hazlett and man do we love this movie. It's a known fact that we Stan Jim Cameron, but this episode goes deep into why. The man knows how to write a screenplay. T2 is the sequel to a low budget scifi indie and it has gone down as one of the most influential movies of the 90s. Aside from being a SOLID script - the copious amount of buns, the two daddy's vying for the attention of the kid, the Village People aesthetic - it all ads up to a gay boys dreams. Throw in Linda Hamilton butching is up - we can't give this movie enough love. Oh and we get into some really critical thinking about the time travel in this one! Hasta la vista babies!
