Morning Faith

Send us a text

James 1:22 NIV

“Do not merely listen to the Word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.”

Many of us today have the belief that since we go to Church on Sunday and tithe, we are living like Christians. True that Christians do those things and they are important things but if we begin to read the Gospels in the New Testament, we find that we lead a very different life than most of the Apostles and Jesus himself.

We often get up in the morning and begin the hustle. Make the coffee, shower if there is time, get dressed, rush to work, put in your 8+ hours, rush home to make dinner, watch some TV or listen to our favorite podcast, then go to bed, all to do it again the next day. Simplified version I know but the point is made.

Did we take a few minutes in the morning to talk with God or even ask for a good day? Since you are reading this, you are getting there. But then, how do we put what we know God says into action, bring the Word to life? Jesus came to earth as the Son of Man to show us by example how to live a Godly life. Do you have an open dialog with God and thank Him for the good that happens or ask for guidance on the more challenging parts?

It is very often hard to make time in your busy day for God, but if you put God into all your thinking first, you are truly making progress in the right direction in doing what the scripture says.

Romans 1:21 NIV

“For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish heart were darkened”

Many of us go through life knowing who God is but believe that is enough and all that God expects of us. We see Churches and believe that one day we will need to go but never find the time. We turn through the radio stations and come across one of those channels which talks about burning in hell if you don’t repent.

It is important to understand that God has a plan for us all. As we move through life, God will put speed bumps in front of you to remind you that He is still there even if you don’t recognize Him. Sometimes He has to get a bit more aggressive to get your attention. God is patient and will wait for you to come around. What does that mean? God wants to have a relationship with each one of us. So much so that he gave His Son to die for you so that you can be close to Him through Jesus Christ. God can’t be close to sin. Jesus removes the sin as a filter so you can talk to God the Father through Jesus Christ.

God does not want to be just someone you know about. He wants to be involved and help you through the pitfalls of life. He wants you to succeed, but to do that, you will need to take the time to understand Him in all His Glory and lean on Him. Once you let Him lead and include Him in your choices, you will see things smooth out in your life. However, you have to listen or you might see some gentle nudges to get you back between the lines.

God is great all the time. Just chose to let Him help you.

Psalms 28:6-7 NIV

“Praise be to the Lord, for he has heard my cry for mercy. the Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.“

When we go through troubled times, we cry out to God and plead for his direction, comfort and mercy. Our faith is what carries us through until God answers our cry. Every bit of strength to handle hard times comes from our faith in God. The more we pray, the more we dive deep into His word, and the more we trust in Gods goodness, the stronger we get and the better we are able to see His will for our life. God answers in many different ways. It is important to understand that regardless the outcome of a situation, God has answered your prayers in his timing and in his good and gracious will.

Have you ever been in a relationship that you prayed would never end because you were so passionate about that person? When that relationship ended, did you feel like your life was over? Years later you look back and realize God really did have your best interest at heart. He really did protect you from a much different life than you are currently leading.

Our hopes, desires and outlook on what life should be can be so different than what God has planned for us and for many of us. It may take years to realize that. Sometimes things happen in our life just to open our eyes and realize we have turned away from God. Of course, not in our minds in the moment but, when we start searching and looking for the answer to what happened, we realize our focus has been on worldly structures and not Godly. We realize our focus has been set aside from God almost as if they are two separate things, our God view and our passion view. Open your eyes and realize our passion and our focus should be God first. If we follow and trust in God, everything will fall into place.

When we lean on God through good storms and bad storms our strength gets stronger, our faith gets stronger, and our outlook becomes clear.

Psalms 30:4-7 NIV

“Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people; For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night but rejoicing comes in the morning. When I felt secure, I said, “I will never be shaken,” Lord, when you favored me, you made my royal mountain stand firm; but when you hid your face, I was dismayed.”

When we are in the Word and we are in with the Lord, we are built so strong and we know that even though we weep today it is not to harm us but to build us even stronger. We know that God is there even in the storms. He makes us unshakeable in the most broken situations. We get filled with worry and nerves because of the unknown things we cannot control but if we focus our attention to Him and His word. He carries us through.

As we focus on the word of God through Jesus, our nerves and worry diminish because through Him he makes us stronger. He carries the burden. Every situation we go in
