play

03/14/21 • 22 min

In this episode we go over Chapter 6 of the Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about hearing and heeding the call, sin-what it is and what it means, and what all this means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.
From the Book of Remembrance:
"Behold, verily I say unto you, that there are many who have been ordained among you before they were in the flesh, whom I have called, but few of these are chosen. For behold, they must hear my call and heed it also; For my paths are straight, and they are known unto me, yet these must know me and hearken unto my voice to harken unto my call." -5:14-18

In this episode we go over Chapter 3:51-66 of the Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the sixth day of the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.
From the Book of Remembrance:
"And Elohim said: Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping things, and beasts of the earth after their kind, and it was so; for they, the gods, organized the earth to bring forth the beasts after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything that creepeth upon the earth after its kind; and the gods saw they would obey. And thus Elohim, through the gods, by the power of the Only Begotten given him by Elohim, made the beasts of the earth after their kind, and cattle after their kind, and everything which creepeth upon the earth after his kind; and Elohim saw that all these things were good. And Elohim said unto the Only Begotten, which was with Elohim, and thus with the gods, from the beginning: Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And the gods took counsel among themselves and said: Let us go down and form man in our image, after our likeness.
"And the gods went down to organize man in their own image, and in the image of the Only Begotten; and in the image of the gods to form they him, male and female to form they them. And Elohim said: Let them have dominion over the fishes of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And Elohim required the gods bless them, and to say unto them: Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And the gods said: We will bless them.
"And the gods said: We will cause them to be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it, and to have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And Elohim caused YHVH to say unto man: Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree in the which shall be the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein I grant life, there shall be given every clean herb for meat; and it was so, even as they spake through the voice of their servants, the gods or the Holy Spirit. And Elohim saw everything that had been made, and behold, all things which had been made were very good.
"And it came to pass that it was from evening until morning they called night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that they called day; and they numbered the sixth time. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day by the reckoning of the Gods."

In this episode we go over Chapter 3:30-41 of The Book of Remembrance. Here we talk about the fourth day of the creation, and what that means to your call and ministry in Jesus Christ.
From the Book of Remembrance:
"And behold, Elohim said unto them: Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven, to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth. And they, the gods, organized the lights in the expanse of the heaven in the manner required by Elohim, and caused them to divide the day from the night; and organized
them to be for signs and for seasons, and for days and for years. And they organized them to be for lights in the expanse of the heaven to give light upon the earth; and it was so. And Elohim desired there be made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night, and the greater light was the sun, and the lesser light was the moon; and the stars also were made even according to their word. And the gods obeyed his commands, and having thus organized the two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night; with the lesser light they set the stars also; yea and behold, these were even created in their own time, the sun even before the earth; yet all things at this time did fall into their place that these things should work for the benefit of man. For Elohim desired the gods to set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth; thus the gods set them in the expanse of the heavens upon the direction of Elohim, to give light upon the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to cause to divide the light from the darkness. And the gods watched those things which they had ordered until they obeyed. And Elohim saw that all things which they had made were good. And it came to pass that from evening until morning that it was night; and it came to pass that it was from morning until evening that it was day, And it was the fourth time; and thus the evening and the morning were the fourth day"

Mormon Kabbalah - Love Thy Neighbors

Love Thy Neighbors

Mormon Kabbalah

play

03/16/20 • 37 min

The following is based on a portion of a transcript from a sermon from November 21, 2015.

In the Torah, in Leviticus 19:18, the Lord says, “Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the Lord” (Holy Bible, KJV).

Further down, in verses 33-34 we read:

And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him. But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Let’s tie this together. In verse 18 we’re commanded to love our neighbors, the people we know. In verses 33-34 it extends to anyone coming into the land. This is important, because this is the Law. When refugees come we don’t say, “let’s see what they can do for us, let’s see what skills they have.”

Jesus taught us in Matthew 5:43-48:

Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

In the Book of Mormon, Christ teaches the same doctrine to the Lehites.

And behold it is written also, that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy; but behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father who is in heaven; for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good. Therefore those things which were of old time, which were under the law, in me are all fulfilled. Old things are done away, and all things have become new. Therefore I would that ye should be perfect even as I, or your Father who is in heaven is perfect. -3 Nephi 4:70-73 RAV, 12:43-48 OPV.

This is the great work we show after we’ve been born again. We too love our neighbors, just a Christ set the perfect example for us to do. It’s that compassion for our fellow beings. We see that we were in a fallen state, that Jesus Christ descended below it all, and suffered for us. He died for us. And, all he asks us to do in return is love him. To accept him. To come to him with a broken heart and contrite spirit. And by doing this, the Holy Spirit moves us. We grow in Grace and become Christlike, loving our neighbors. Not turning them away, but helping them in any way we can.

Mormon Kabbalah - 1 Nephi 1:47-59 RAV, 2:16-3:1 OPV
play

03/10/20 • 36 min

Nephi goes to the Lord for his own testimony, shares what he learned with his brothers, goes back the Lord, gains more light and knowledge, and returns to his father, Lehi.

1:47 [2:16a] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, being exceeding young, nevertheless, being large in stature, and also having great desires to know of the mysteries of Elohim1,

1:48 [2:16b] Wherefore, I did cry unto YHVH2; and behold, He did visit me and did soften my heart, that I did believe all the words which had been spoken by my father; wherefore, I did not rebel against him like unto my brothers.

1:49 [2:17a] And I spake unto Sam, making known unto him the things which YHVH2 had manifested unto me by His Holy Spirit.

1:50 [2:17b] ¶ And it came to pass that he believed in my words;

1:51 [2:18a] But behold, Laman and Lemuel would not hearken unto my words;

1:52 [2:18b] And being grieved because of the hardness of their hearts, I cried unto YHVH2 for them.

1:53 [2:19] ¶ And it came to pass that YHVH2 spake unto me, saying: Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith; for thou hast sought me diligently with lowliness of heart.

1:54 [2:20] And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper and shall be led to a land of promise, yea, even a land which I have prepared for you, yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.

1:55 [2:21] And inasmuch as thy brethren shall rebel against thee, they shall be cut off from the presence of YHVH2.

1:56 [2:22] And inasmuch as thou shalt keep my commandments, thou shalt be made a ruler and a teacher over thy brethren.

1:57 [2:23] For behold, in that day that they shall rebel against me, I will curse them even with a sore curse; and they shall have no power over thy seed, except they shall rebel against me also.

1:58 [2:24] And if it so be that they rebel against me, they shall be a scourge unto thy seed, to stir them up in the ways of remembrance.

[OPV Chapter 3]

1:59 [3:1] ¶ And it came to pass that I, Nephi, returned from speaking with YHVH2, to the tent of my father.

Mormon Kabbalah - 1 Nephi 1:23-32 RAV, 1:20c-2:5 OPV
play

02/24/20 • 33 min

Nephi tells us of his father, Lehi giving up their family's worldly goods traveling into the wilderness, taking only the things they will truly need.
1:23 [1:20c] But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of YHVH(1) are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.

[OPV Chapter 2]

1:24 [2:1a] ¶ For behold, it came to pass that YHVH (1) spake unto my father, yea, even in a dream, and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Lehi, because of the things which thou hast done;

1:25 [2:1b] And because thou hast been faithful and declared unto this people the things which I commanded thee, behold, they seek to take away thy life.

1:26 [2:2] ¶ And it came to pass that YHVH (1) gave unto to my father teshuvah, even in a dream, that he should take his family and depart into the wilderness.

1:27 [2:3] And it came to pass that he was obedient unto the word of YHVH (1); wherefore, he did as YHVH commanded him.

1:28 [2:4a] ¶ And it came to pass that he departed into the wilderness.

1:29 [2:4b] And he left

  • his house,
  • and the land of his inheritance,
  • and his gold,
  • and his silver,
  • and his precious things,

and took nothing with him, save it were

  • his family,
  • and provisions,
  • and tents;

and he departed into the wilderness;

1:30 [2:5a] And he came down by the borders near the shore of the Red Sea;

1:31 [2:5b] And he traveled in the wilderness in the borders which were nearer the Red Sea;

1:32 [2:5c] And he did travel in the wilderness with his family, which consisted of my mother Sariah, and my elder brothers, who were Laman, Lemuel, and Sam.

Mormon Kabbalah - 1 Nephi 1:15-27 RAV, 1:16-2:27 OPV
play

02/11/20 • 29 min

This week we look at Lehi through the eyes of Nephi, and we flee to the wilderness to protect our righteous desires.
1:15 [1:16a] And now, I, Nephi, do not make a full account of the things which my father hath written, for he hath written many things which he saw in visions and in dreams;
1:16a [1:16b] And he also hath written many things which he prophesied and spake unto his children, of which I shall not make a full account;
1:16b [1:17a] But I shall make an account of my proceedings in my days.
1:17 [1:17b] Behold, I make an abridgment of the record of my father upon plates which I have made with mine own hands; wherefore, after I have abridged the record of my father, then will I make an account of mine own life.
1:18a [1:18a] ¶ Therefore, I would that ye should know that after YHVH(1)had shown so many marvelous things unto my father Lehi,
1:18b [1:18b] Yea, concerning the destruction of Jerusalem, behold, he went forth among the people and began to prophesy and to declare unto them concerning the things which he had both seen and heard.
1:19 [1:19a] ¶ And it came to pass that the Jews did mock him because of the things which he testified of them; for he truly testified of their wickedness and their abominations;
1:20 [1:19b] And he testified that the things which he saw and heard, and also the things which he read in the book, manifested plainly of the coming of a Messiah and also the redemption of the world.
1:21 [1:20a] ¶ And when the Jews heard these things, they were angry with him, yea, even as with the prophets of old, whom they had cast out, and stoned, and slain;
1:22 [1:20b] And they also sought his life, that they might take it away.
1:23 [1:20c] But behold, I, Nephi, will show unto you that the tender mercies of YHVH are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance.
[OPV Chapter 2]
1:24 [2:1a] ¶ For behold, it came to pass that YHVH spake unto my father, yea, even in a dream, and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Lehi, because of the things which thou hast done;
1:25 [2:1b] And because thou hast been faithful and declared unto this people the things which I commanded thee, behold, they seek to take away thy life.
1:26 [2:2] ¶ And it came to pass that YHVH gave unto to my father teshuvah (2), even in a dream, that he should take his family and depart into the wilderness.
1:27 [2:3] And it came to pass that he was obedient unto the word of YHVH; wherefore, he did as YHVH commanded him.
