We're thrilled to share with you the first episode of the Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program's latest campaign: Night at Howling House! It's called "The Dare" - the intro transcript is below, episode transcript is found on their website: https://www.cthulhumystery.com/howling-house-episode-1 If you like what you hear, be sure to subscribe to their feed in your podcast app of choice!
Episode summary;
The lazy days of summer are at an end and school is about to begin... but for five Arkham youths, reading, writing, and 'rithmetic is the least of their worries. They're spending the night in a notorious abandoned house and local legends say no one has ever lived to tell the tale.
Of course, no sane schoolkid would dare to trespass in Howling House, but twelve-year-old Tenderfoot, Tommy "Woods" Northwood, his precocious kid sister Chelsea, and a forlorn little boy known only as "Dirt" don't have a choice. Roger Simmons, the neighborhood bully, and his protégé, Joey Davenport, have the leverage and pugilistic prowess to make a very convincing argument.
Will they survive to see the sunrise, or is there something sinister waiting for them in that decrepit domicile?
The Moonbase Theta, Out Season 4 Prologue continues next week!

INTRO (READ BY LEEMAN) (background music is Mr. Lonogan by Scott Buckley: https://www.scottbuckley.com.au/library/mr-lonogan/)
Hello, friends! Leeman Kessler here, current Roger Bragado-Fischer and previous Howard Lovecraft impersonator. Both are why I've been asked to introduce this little swap we're doing! We'd like to bring you another show you might find interesting, even if the subject matter strays a good ways from the Moon ...
You're about to hear a sample episode of The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program, produced by and co-starring one of our Moonbase actors Cat Blackard. It's an enticingly dark horror-comedy series drawing on the RPG framework of the Call of Cthulhu system, but expanding on that world in unholy cinematic audio drama. Each season is a stand-alone adventure where our heroes risk their lives - and their sanity - facing untold terror and edge-of-your-seat adventure, but with just enough laughs and queer romance to keep an audience satisfied. The sound design is creepy, cinematic and immersive, and includes an original score to back each thrilling episode. You may not want to listen with the lights turned out - but you'll definitely want to listen.
You're gonna want to go back to each previous season of The Call of Cthulhu Mystery Program, but what we're sharing today is actually the first, bloody-fresh, brand-new episode of the latest story, what they're calling, "Night at Howling House!" They're describing this as a 1920's Lovecraftian spin on an 80s thriller like Stephen King or The Goonies, and if that cosmic comic mix-up doesn't pull you in ... I'm not even gonna finish that sentence! Just give it a listen, add this stygian series to your podcast apps, and visit cthulhumystery dot com for more information.
Oh, and remember how I mentioned the reasons I was asked to do this introduction? Well, there's one more ... just a bit later this season, I enter the story as well, in what Cat called, "one of the most unnerving performances I've ever directed." How about that? [MANIACAL LAUGHTER]
