ModelGeek's Podcast

ModelGeek

Hey Modelers! Welcome to the ModelGeeks Podcast, a place where we talk about anything and everything relating to scale models. Sit back and buckle up for an exciting journey into the world of scale modeling. It doesn’t matter whether you’re new to the hobby, been around since Moses, or that you build aircraft, armor, ships, or automobiles. We hope to have a little bit for each of you.
Our format is simple; modeling news you can use with a few tips and techniques, some lighthearted banter (maybe a beer or two...) and most importantly, interaction with you, the listener! Please feel free to drop us an email at: [email protected] and weigh in on whatever our show topic is. You can also find us on the ModelGeeks Facebook Page or our website: www.modelgeekspodcast.com.
In closing, thanks to all the ModelGeeks out there! This podcast wouldn't exist without the tremendous support we have received from all the Geeks! We really hope that you will download and make us a regular part of your modeling bench sessions. As we always say... be excellent to each other and by all means, get out there and build something!
Out from the Geeks...

ModelGeek's Podcast - "Virginia Shootout" Wrap-Up & ...Where's D-ran??!!
play

08/24/24 • 121 min

The Geeks hit the road and head southwest to the IPMS Roanoke Valley’s “Virginia Shootout” show.

Nothing beats a quick weekend trip with your modeling buddies, especially when a show is happening, the kit deals are HOT and the Mexican food is muy bueno! Toss in a few beers with friends and it’s practically impossible to top for a real Modelgeek!

In this episode we recap our trip to Virginia and the Virginia Shootout. We had a great time, saw some great models, and made some awesome deals on kits that we’d each been looking for. We sit down with show Co-Chair Greg Clower and he gives us a history of the show and the club.
D-ran is still MIA so we play shorthanded once again...anyone wanna take that 5th seat???

We would like to thank all you listeners out there for the continued support you have given the show. We hope to see you out and about as we hit more of the shows coming up this busy 2024 If you happen to see us at a show, set up at our table, come on over and say hello, we may even put you in front of the mic!

ModelGeek's Podcast - ModelGeeks Episode 32; "SHOW SEASON IS UPON US!"
play

04/22/22 • 122 min

Welcome to The ModelGeeks Podcast. Well, Show and Contest season is upon us! Alright we’ve discussed model contests before here on the Geeks but let’s talk shows/contests from the perspective of being “in show season”! We’re in the midst of planning our first show down here in Pax River (PAXCON23), and we’re learning really quickly how much work goes into planning and running a successful, i.e. FUN, model show and contest. Call it a contest, call it a show we’re there to see what’s on the tables. Let’s leave judging off the table, and talk about what we like...and indeed dislike, about going to a model show with your buddies.

We’ll also give a run-down of what’s new out there in kits, aftermarket, upcoming shows, and other news around the hobby. We would like to thank all the listeners for the support you have given the show over the past year now. We hope to see you out and about as we hit some of the shows. ModelGeek's Podcast - ModelGeeks Episode 52 "The Best Kits That Never Were"
play

03/18/23 • 134 min

Welcome to Episode 52 of The ModelGeeks Podcast.

In this episode we discuss the frustrations of hoping for a version of a nice kit subject, that simply never materializes. Read on...

We’ve all built kits or seen kits hit the streets that we automatically think “Oh man, I hope they do the X version of that!” ...only for that particular version of a kit to never materialize...for what seems to be unfathomable reasons!
Right now my favorite headscratcher to this conundrum is the RF-8 Crusader. Building the Hasegawa F-8E at the moment, you can see where the thought was there to perhaps do the Recconn version...and why wouldn’t they, as historical an aircraft that it has been?! But, to no avail. We are left with only aftermarket conversions and dreams.
In an era when we keep seeing releases of subjects we’ve all only dreamt of, there are still several subjects out there waiting to piggyback on to the success of their predecessors.

Of course, we’ll also discuss what we are In Work on, give you a run-down of what’s new out there in kits, aftermarket, upcoming shows, and other news around the hobby.

We would like to thank all the listeners for the continued support you have given the show. We hope to see you out and about as we hit some of the shows. If you can't make it to the shows then you can still interact with us through social media, Facebook, Instagram, and email: [email protected]
