Miss Tweetie's Parents
Margaret Dahlberg
Hi! I've been a music educator and composer for over 35 years and I have combined my vocations with my passion to talk about the quest to do better. I invite my community of parents and non-parents to chat about one of my favourite subjects. I like to invite my guests to speak freely and openly about their challenges around parenting, and encourage empathy and understanding amongst all of us. Let's face it, everyone has an opinion about how we can be better parents and most of us agree that it is one of the hardest jobs out there! In thanks for their vulnerability, I compose a song for each guest, presenting it at the end of the podcast. All songs are renamed, used as the episode title and released on all of the streaming sites, too. Want to be a part of it? Reach out for a chat! margaretdahlberg.com

Joyful Perseverance with Tyler
Miss Tweetie's Parents
09/16/24 • 54 min
Tyler has a fascinating story behind his journey becoming a parent. As a same sex, multi-racial couple, there were many obstacles to overcome. But his ability to persevere and remain positive made their dreams come true. As Tyler and his partner embark upon a new journey to expand their family, he believes that speaking about your dreams and goals helps you achieve them.
Establishing Harmony with Linda
Miss Tweetie's Parents
12/09/24 • 53 min
To me, Linda is in that cutting edge of the generation of women in the 70's that exercised their rights to be treated as equals. So fascinating to listen to her journey - the things we all take for granted now, she had to stand strong against the current - keeping her maiden name, living with her boyfriend instead of marrying him. . . it was really a wonderful pleasure to talk to her. If you want to hear more about Linda, she has another great conversation with her daughter, Morgan, (guest on Miss Tweetie's parents: Welcome Intensity from October 28) here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-working-mother-experience/id1562566181?i=1000559190418
Precious Vibrancy with Julianne
Miss Tweetie's Parents
03/18/24 • 50 min
Julianne is a bright and enthusiastic mother of two pre-schoolers who has experienced the 180 from climbing the corporate ladder to climbing the full-time parenting ladder. We cover some of the biggies - she talks candidly about the trials of being a new Mom & crippling post-partum depression - we even touch upon talking about death with our kids. She has become an advocate for the women's mental health organization that supported her through her mental health crisis. This year she is hoping to raise $10,000. You can donate here: http://run.convio.net/site/TR/Events/General?px=1083766&pg=personal&fr_id=1540 Her song "Precious Vibrancy" is all about learning to conserve our energy and not get caught up in pushing ourselves to meet our goals. You can find it on all of the streaming sites! Want to come on the podcast OR have me write you your own intuitive personal soundtrack? Find me on margaretdahlberg.com
Treasured Solace with Julie
Miss Tweetie's Parents
07/22/24 • 51 min
Julie has a kaleidoscope of exposure when it comes to parenting. Starting out as a school teacher, not only has she raised her own two children, she has been a parenting coach & mentor for over 20 years. She has also had a life long involvement in the arts as a singer & eventually a coach, which now includes working with children & families. You have heard her on the radio, either talking about parenting OR in classical music recordings. What a breadth of knowledge & wisdom! You can find her at parentmentornow.com. I highly recommend her mentorship.
The Artist's Way with Matt
Miss Tweetie's Parents
11/25/24 • 46 min
Matt is a fellow songwriter/composer who has raised two great kids. He may be the first interview I've done where I've never met the kids, I just know the parent. There is no doubt in my mind that his kids are awesome. We have a wonderful conversation AND, he brings his guitar and plays us a tune! Check out Matt's other music here: https://mattburd.bandcamp.com/
Simply There with Corey
Miss Tweetie's Parents
05/20/24 • 47 min
My chat with Corey was so interesting. An artist and musician, he brings a simple and straightforward approach to parenting (and life). Plus, he has a particularly unique perspective as a father with thoughts on adoption as well as dealing with a brain injury. For painting parties or band rehearsal space, you can find him at https://www.paintitparties.com.
Hidden Gem with Sonia
Miss Tweetie's Parents
05/27/24 • 55 min
Sonia is a wealth of knowledge as a mother & a small business-woman - AND she is also a piano & early childhood teacher, just like me! So we have a lot to talk about. We worked hard to keep our conversation around universal subjects for parents, but we can't help but get a little into the music side of things as well. Look for her offerings of piano lessons & early-childhood music @fortemusicstudiocalgary.
Metamorphosis with Ben
Miss Tweetie's Parents
06/03/24 • 47 min
Ben & I talk about navigating divorce as well as supporting our children when there needs seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Many changes in our lives happen gradually but sometimes big things come along that create bigger shifts. Hence, the title Metamorphosis - on one hand, metamorphosis is a natural evolution but it also tends to be an extreme change. Ben has been through a few but his son has also experienced his own metamorphosis which turned him into a fully immersed motorcycle racer.
