The Minnesota House on Thursday convened for its first session with both Democrats and Republicans in attendance. It happened after a power-sharing agreement was struck by legislative leaders Wednesday night. Republican Rep. Lisa Demuth will wield the speaker's gavel for the next two years.
The Minneapolis City Council voted to delay a plan for George Floyd Square. A council committee voted 4-2 Thursday in favor of tabling the city’s plan and will instead consider a pedestrian-only design. City officials say the decision may delay construction until 2026.
