Today I bring you a special bonus episode with author, Laura Tweedale. Our conversation focuses around her book, The Joy of Reusable Nappies. (If you aren't familiar with the term: nappy is British for diaper). Laura was lovely to speak with and provided a gentle, supportive guide on using and caring for reusable nappies.

Quick note: I recorded this episode back in February 2020. I have a noticeable cold that I remark on in the beginning of my conversation. A lot of my episodes are recorded months before they drop so I apologize for any confusion or mentions of it being winter at the release date (July 2020.)

This week, I bring you my conversation with author, Autumn McKay. In 2016, Autumn created her blog, Best Mom Ideas where she began to share tips and tricks she learned throughout her own motherhood journey. The creation of this blog turned into the creation of her books, The Ultimate Toddler Activity Guide and The Ultimate Kindergarten Prep Guide. Today we’ll discuss the benefits of screen-free activities, ways to encourage independent play and how to minimize screen time in the day-to-day.

I've also included ten of my go-to ways to avoid screens! It can be tough in extreme temperatures to know how to balance screen time with playtime so my hope is to give you a couple of suggestions you hadn't yet considered!

In today’s bonus episode with Tara Clark (@modernmomprobs), we discuss intentionality and mental health - specifically when it comes to social media. Modern technology is not going to change (if anything, it’ll only capture more areas of our lives.) It’s up to us to MODIFY our behavior. While social media can provide an escape, connect us to friends across the globe and become a useful resource for income, it can quickly become an addiction that takes us away from our priorities, and most importantly, our children. It’s something most of us realize but have a hard time actively combating. What do you do to set boundaries and protect mental health in this area?

This week I’ll be discussing some helpful approaches to health. Can you believe we’re already a couple of weeks into March? As many of us are beginning to lose motivation of those initial days of the year, I wanted to encourage you that not all is lost. It is my belief that health is a lifelong pursuit. It’s every meal. Every morning. Every afternoon. Every moment. If you’ve fallen off the wagon, get back on! As it’s been said before, your future say will thank you!

I discuss:

  • A brief background of my passion for health/wellness
  • Ways to simplify your approach to health

Join me today for a conversation with author, Matthew Fray all about intentionality in marriage. Matthew has written a thoughtful, down-to-earth guide to help partners identify and address relationship-killing behavior patterns in their own lives. Filtered through the lens of his own surprising, life-changing experience and his years counseling couples, his new book, This Is How Your Marriage Ends, exposes the root problem of so many relationships that go wrong. We simply haven’t been taught any of the necessary skills, Matthew explains. He is here to talk about all of this and more on today’s episode.

Join me today for a conversation with Tara McKenna about simple switches to change your mindset regarding waste. We're all trapped in a wasteful convenience-based cycle, but Tara’s new book, Don’t Be Trashy offers an alternative: an approach to reducing waste that emphasizes progress over perfection. Ultimately, it's about changing your mindset to one of minimalism and conscious consumption—a mindset that’s as good for your wallet and your well-being as it is for the planet.

My Resource of the Week:

  • Lomi | Turn your food waste into dirt at the push of a button. Lomi was designed to make home composting incredibly easy.

Looking for a different take on parenting hacks? I'm thrilled to introduce you to Justin Whitmel Earley, a father of four teaching parents how to create structure from mealtime to bedtime through creating purposeful habits. You long for tender moments with your children--but do you ever find yourself too busy to stop, make eye contact, and say something you really mean? Daily habits are powerful ways to shape the heart--but do you find yourself giving in to screen time just to get through the day? You want to parent with purpose--but do you know how to start? His new book, Habits of the Household releases today and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to speak with him about reestablishing rituals, the connection between our children and our habits, and more.
