BRAIN HEALTH
MENTAL MANAGEMENT
A GOOD DEATH
Let's not just fade away; let's FLOURISH as we age!
The MINDRAMP Podcasts focus on three key components that have been shown to contribute to flourishing in the later years of your life. You will find mini-series of episodes that explore each component.
1) Keeping your brain and body healthy - see The Roots of Brain Health
2) Managing your mental states - see Flourishing
3) Planning the kind of death you want to have - (coming 10/1/24))
You will also find the occasional episodes that focus social concerns that I feel have an impact on our well-being, for example "Elections."

MINDRAMP PODCASTS - Awegasm: Adventures with Emotional Granularity
play

11/26/21 • 9 min

We can increase our emotional intelligence by expanding our vocabulary for emotional words.  This is the core idea of the theory of emotional granularity put forth by neuroscientist  Lisa Feldman Barrett. During a road trip through southern Utah and western Colorado my wife and I expanded our ability to articulate our feelings of wonder and delight.  We invented the word "awe-gasm" to describe the visceral ecstasy evoked by the natural splendors of the mountain west.

This podcast is based on an article of mine that appears in the Winter 2021 edition of 3rd Act Magazine.

The indictment of Donald J. Trump for alleged crimes related to a conspiracy to disrupt the normal transfer of power and to keep himself in office in spite of losing the election to Joe Biden is perhaps the most important legal case in the history of our country.
As such, it is important that all citizens understand the full extent of the changes and the evidence being levied against Mr. Trump. Since I wanted to read the full document for myself, I decided that I should also record it and make it available for anyone who wanted to listen.
This podcast, Part 1 covers the first 27 pages of the 45 page document. I will record and post the rest of the document tomorrow.
