Mindful As A Mother

Mindful As A Mother

Paige Bruce & Lindsay Adams

Hiiiiiii. Lindsay and Paige here: two therapists and mothers with a mission to provide affordable evidence based resources to parents of adhd & autistic children. When we're not working with children and their parents in therapy or recording for the pod, you can find us hanging out at home with our families, surviving on diet coke or coffee, and binge-watching true crime. We're here to make the intersection between therapy and parenting relatable with education, support, and SMASHING parental stigma. Grab your favorite caffeinated beverage and buckle up for the ride.

Welcome back to Mindful As A Mother! Today we are welcoming a special guest all the way from Austria, Carina Wahringer. We strongly believe that the most important voices in parenting and living with neurodivergence come from the individuals themselves. Carina is a strong example of a neurodivergent mother with neurodivergent children just trying to wing parenthood like the rest of us. Together, we talk about how Carina knew she’s neurodivergent, what it's like parenting as a neurodivergent individual and parenting neurodivergent children, and her biggest struggles and strengths in neurodivergence.

This week we’re excited to introduce Dr. Rothman and Dr. Fredriksen, two powerful females, authors, mothers and doctors in the field of Neurodivergence. Together, they wrote Different Thinkers: ADHD. Different Thinkers: ADHD is a comprehensive resource about ADHD for children and adults alike, offering practical advice for managing symptoms and reflection prompts designed to help readers understand what it means to be a different thinker. Dr. Rothman and Dr. Fredriksen hope to help children understand their ADHD diagnosis and celebrate their different ways of thinking. Together we talk about why it’s important for children to learn about their diagnoses and how celebrating difference can make everyone feel included. Our favorite quote this week is “Neurodiversity is to human culture like biodiversity is to the ecosystem”.
