Alan Goldstein
Professor Alan Goldstein has no intention of putting the brakes on his research just yet. As a bioengineer, he spends most of his time designing new materials for the medical devices of the future, by working out how to bind biological substances like proteins, DNA and enzymes to inanimate substances such as glass, plastic and metal. "I'm gung-ho about it," he says. "I want to cure diseases."
