Mick Wall

Mick Wall is the best-known rock journalist in the world. Author of numerous best-selling books, including most famously: When Giants Walked The Earth, Two Riders Were Approaching, and Last Of The Giants, he is also an award-winning broadcaster and producer. The former editor-in-chief of Classic Rock, his work has appeared in The Times, Mojo, Rolling Stone, and many other newspapers and magazines around the world.

Mick is also the genius behind the Dead Rock Stars pod of 2018 and Getcha Rocks Off (2020-21). The new Mick Wall pod will broadcast one free episode every week. Subscribers to his Patreon site, however, receive many more. Poor bastards.

I have no idea what that title means or might be alluding to or why it might be ideal for this pod episode because I can't remember what we did this time or why we did it or anything innit, right? I can't remember why I'm sitting here now let alone something I said yesterday. And I'm NOT gonna sit here listenin' to it, that's your job, for your sins. Report back.

Honest, always right, policed by the Good Guys, never prejudiced, always fair... none of these things exist on all the music mags you love. To demonstrate, we take Classic Rock - a magazine still close to my wallet-shaped heart - and dissect the latest cover story on Slash. 'Honest' Mick Wall, as Brian May always described him, and Jonny James Interruptor takes you on a ride with the hows, whys, and wtf. Funny, too. (Other music mags exist, apparently.)

Jonny James Hotten - aka The Great Interruptor - joins Mick again for another fact-filled, deeply-researched, strong but sensitive deep-dive into those corners of the rock world other pods are simply too stoopid to know about. This time we ask the question: when is live no longer live but 'live'? Albums, concerts, DVDs, all 'polished' to within an inch of their hairless sphincters. Featuring Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Journey, Eagles, Whitesnake, Ozzy and any other rock star you could name.

Mick welcomes back Harry 'Hard Man' Paterson to discuss that often uncomfortable, sometimes inspirational interface where rock and politics collide. From Dylan's protest to Clapton's cringe-fest and all points between, right, left or down a dark alley.

A little later than advertised (Jon's fault) this week's must-listen episode of the world's most WEID-friendly, FACT-dedicated, full-on f**king in the street (Jon again) podcast. Featuring: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and - yes! - Mark Kelly of Marillion. Problems! Problems! (The latter said in a broad Scottish accent.)
