MFG Planet - Wendy Feldstein - "Woman's Talk "
play

04/13/23 • 26 min

Wendy Feldstein is the Vice President of Design at Crestron Electronics, a global leader in audio visual automation and integration. She oversees and engineers the creation of Crestron’s mechanical products and is named on more than 73 patents for the company.

As a graduate of Pratt Institute’s Industrial Design program, she initially worked for a Manhattan interior designer, before enrolling in the graduate program at New York University’s Tish School of the Arts for training in set and production design. Her skills landed her jobs as a set designer and art director for films and off-off-Broadway productions.

Wendy’s roots in industrial design kept calling and she found herself at Crestron. She was able to learn AutoCAD and apply her keen artistic talent and training to develop the company’s drafting department into a more robust Engineering Services (ES) team. She has a natural talent for bringing order to chaos and was able to create standards, processes, and procedures for the growing company – many of which continue to be used today. Over the last 30 years she has continued to grow and evolve multiple groups within the ES Department. She continues to coordinate with other department leaders to create and improve processes and procedures throughout the company.

When it comes to Crestron’s people, Wendy is a firm believer in developing the company’s employees to help them reach their full potential. Whether it is an informal mentoring discussion or coaching someone to develop new skills, she champions professional growth opportunities for people at all levels of the organization.

Wendy believes strongly in the importance of giving back to the community and is frequently invited to participate in educational events throughout the community. She prides herself on identifying and nurturing the potential in students and helping them realize their own self-worth. Wendy strives to empower young girls and women by encouraging them to pursue STEM education as well as critical thinking and problem-solving skills, so they are prepared for future opportunities. Her passion for the environment had her ahead of her time in product considerations, where she continues to improve efforts. It also led her to volunteer for a local Environmental Commission where she has served since 2016. She is on several other local boards.
