Ever wonder what it would feel like to walk into a room full of people —maybe your workplace, a conference or press event — and no one looks like you? We're both journalists, but we're of different races. That means our professional experiences vary widely because of the shades of our skin. In this episode, Elvi and Dave chat about what it's like for her to be often the only Black woman or one of a few Black people in a newsroom or almost every journalism setting. It's been a busy couple of weeks; back-to-back COVID booster shots, Thanksgiving travel, David publishing his book, and our first real vacation in two years. It's made it hard to find time to podcast but we decided to squeeze in one episode while we're on our trip to Lisbon before we return home to kids crawling all over us.
