Episode 2: Fast Food, Lake of the Ozarks, and Chimpanzees

Kathleen opens boasting her love for Dolly Parton with a few Dolly quotes, and promotion of Dolly’s version of Led Zepplin’s “Stairway to Heaven”.
Kathleen expands on her Episode 1 conversation about Puerto Rican astrologer Walter Mercado as she reads a few lines from his 1997 book “Beyond The Horizon,” which includes predictions for the future. She shares that if she could have two experiences in her life, she would want to see the HistoryMiami Museum’s exhibit honoring Mercado, and also Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul museum in Mexico City.
Fast Food From the Road: Kathleen confesses that after decades on the road, she’s just tasted her first Popeye’s famous chicken sandwich. She loves Taco Bell and KFC UNLESS they are a combo restaurant, which is also how she feels about Baskin-Robbins + Dunkin Donut establishments. Kathleen is completely disappointed in how mergers like this usually result in customers needing to beg for extra hot sauce, be subject to insane new menu items such as the KFC Donut Chicken Sandwhich, or be forced to accept the loss in quality of one of her favorite treats: mint chocolate chip ice cream (WHY isn’t it even green anymore?).
Parental Update: Kathleen has a phone conversation with her mom and is warned to stay out of the “doughnut hole of health insurance.” Her dad is dominating his men’s golf league, but is the only player adhering to COVID-19 cart restrictions.
Sports: Kathleen provides an update on her COVID-19 Sports predictions: an update on the surging cases in her St. Louis Cardinals’ locker room (whom she refers to as “dirty birds,” her predictions on the success of the NHL’s “bubble” Stanley Cup Finals and the NBA tournament. Kathleen reviews the NCAA football conferences that have chosen to opt out of the 2020 Fall season, and reminisces how she was first introduced to good college football when the Missouri Tigers were admitted into the SEC in 2012.
Controversy: Kathleen discusses her thoughts on the Dixie Chicks transitioning their name to be The Chicks, and remembers where she was and the fallout of that band’s 2003 dissidence of then-president George W. Bush at a concert in the UK. She moves on discussing public figures whom she appreciates even though they have ideological differences, and how those differences probably wouldn’t be known without social media. Kathleen includes actor Jon Voight and Jerry Falwell Jr, and the repercussions when Falwell Jr. recently posted a picture of himself on a yacht with his pants open.

Kathleen opens by opening her Pickle Kolsch beer from Tailgate Brewery in Nashville, which she discovered at her favorite Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant: Party Fowl. Kathleen describes the recipe behind Nashville Hot Chicken, and introduces her NEW “Cardboard Cher” who will takes the Busch Latte from Stevie Nicks since she is the tallest cardboard guest in the Pub. Kathleen provides an update on the state of the Post Office, describing a mailer that she received from USPS highlighting their pledge to ensure that all mail-in Federal election ballots reach their final destination on time. She reads a Dolly Parton quoteinvolving potatoes.
TIME ZONES AND SPORTS: Kathleen asks the audience based on the East Coast of the US HOW they stay awake long enough to watch sports, specifically Monday Night Football. She reviews the pros and cons of each time zone as relates to the tv schedule of pro football, hockey, and baseball, and is thankful to live in the Central Standard Time zone (and also that she doesn’t have to get up early the next day for work.)
Kathleen gives a nod to recently deceased St. Louis Cardinal Hall of Fame player Lou Brock, describing her emotions when she saw his funeral procession pass the Cardinal’s Busch Stadium and his wife’s remarks to Cardinals fans on behalf of the family.
Kathleen loves the city of Buffalo and its sports fans, specifically Bills fans. She loves visiting the famous Anchor Bar, boasting that she can spend an entire day sitting at the bar people watching, drinking Labatt Blue Light, and eating buffalo wings. Kathleen is in awe of the Bills Mafia’s tailgating tradition of “table slamming,” where fans jump onto and card tables in an attempt to break them. She admires a Bills fan in Buffalo who paints his entire house in Bills’ colors (complete with logo) after his next door neighbor raises a New York Jet’s flag in his yard.
MADIGAN FAMILY UPDATE: Kathleen’s parents stopped for a few days on their way to Florida, and told Kathleen that if she wanted her white hydrangea bushes to turn pink or blue, that she should pour a 50/50 vinegar mixture on the flowers. She did this and the flowers turned brown and died.
UPDATE MALAYSIAN FLIGHT 370: For those fans who participate in Kathleen’s obsession with missing MH Flight 370, she provides an update (September 2020) on the missing aircraft including multi-government search groups finding debris on African beaches.
“GAS STATION” FOOD: Kathleen finds Twinkies cereal, and although she prefers Ding Dongs to Twinkies she is excited for this breakfast option. Her fellow comedian pal Kelly McFarland agrees that the best food is found in truck stops.

Episode 6: Canadian Killers, Aliens, and Monster Sharks

Kathleen opens with an introduction to “Cardboard Cher,” who will be joining the Pub crew. She reveals that one of her favorite Twitter accounts to follow is “Super 70’s Sports,” and laughs at a recent tweet they posted showing the Milwaukee Brewers ground crew originally wearing lederhosen. Kathleen loves the city of Milwaukee, and although she is a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan she admits that she would be excited to attend any Brewers game, especially if there were lederhosen involved.
She announces that she’ll be opening her weekly Pubcast with a Dolly Parton quote, with this week’s quote involving Dolly and business. Kathleen states that the best concert she’s ever seen in her life is Cher in at the Park Theatre in Vegas.
Kathleen provides an update on the Jerry Falwell Jr. saga with Liberty University and his complicated relationship involving his wife and their pool boy. She reads from an article authored by Hustler Magazine’s founder Larry Flynt stating his position on the Falwells.
SHARK WEEK & MEGALODON: Kathleen reveals her extreme disappointment regarding the authenticity of the 2013 Shark Week special “Megalodon: The Monster Shark Lives.” Her bff Lorene (who also directed Kathleen’s “Bothering Jesus” special on Netflix) provides insight on how you can tell whether the content of one of these shows includes accurate and true information. Kathleen goes on to describe the outrage from both scientists who knew that the mega shark was a hoax, as well as viewers who believed the History Channel’s Megalodon story. The Network regrouped and promised to reinspire the integrity of Shark Week content to fans, and the following Shark Week season they released the sequel “Megalodon: The New Evidence.” This sequel ALSO provided no credible proof of Megalodon’s existence, which was finally disclosed in the third installment “Megalodon: Fact vs Fiction.” Kathleen remains a huge fan of the History Channel and Shark Week, following numerous sharks on Twitter such as “Deep Blue” and “Katharine the Shark.”
BILLBOARDS: Kathleen discusses her opinion of billboards, stating she’s never received any useful info from them except when in Vegas and Atlantic City. Kathleen thinks that most billboards don’t display “fun” information, and therefore don’t motivate her. Most contain positions on abortion, religion, and 800 numbers you shouldn’t call, and she thinks that they “junk up” any road trip. Kathleen appreciates a good truck stop on a road trip, and agrees that Loves Truck Stops rent billboards in good locations so that she can plan bathroom breaks accordingly. Kathleen opens with a warm welcome to her “Termites,” providing an explanation for those just tuning in as to how her Termite followers obtained their reference. Stevie Nicks still joins Kathleen at the Pub, and is holding Kathleen’s case of limited edition Busch Latte. Kathleen describes her new Walter Mercado prayer candle to listeners, as well as one of her pint glass from one of her favorite breakfast restaurants in the country: Sam’s Diner in Denver. She didn’t steal this particular glass, but outs her mother for being known to steal fried chicken from casino buffets.
Kathleen follows up on Episode 2 and her discussion about offensive mascot names, describing the new Pekin Chinks booster pin that she found on Ebay from a seller who lives in The Villages, FL. As a side note, her parents have announced that they are returning to Florida for a few months of sunshine despite COVID concerns.
NOTEWORTHY GAS STATION FOOD: Kathleen describes sampling her nieces’ life-changing white cheddar Cheetos bites when boating with the kids at Lake of the Ozarks, and is ecstatic that her favorite beer company, Anheuser Busch, has created a Busch beer for dogs called “Dog Brew.” Dog Brew includes pork butt, and lets both you and your pup enjoy a cold beer after mowing the lawn.
LIVE ENTERTAINMENT IN COVID-19: Kathleen provides an update on COVID shows and her Tour Schedule, and sites examples of other entertainment and large public gatherings such as the RNC and the impact to those crowds that were reported.
KATHLEEN’S QUARANTINE ACTIVITIES: Kathleen describes giving her dad a haircut in quarantine, and also Lewis Black’s quarantine haircut which you can see on YouTube. She also expresses how she is obsessed with watching the Weather Channel, especially during hurricane season (most recently Hurricane NANA). As a follow up to Pubcast Episode 3’s content about Lance Armstrong, Kathleen describes her interactions with Lance while touring Iraq, and how terrified Lewis was of him while on tour. She discloses that she has some issues with cycling as a sport.
MEMPHIS: Matt Shirley’s Instagram: Kathleen is a massive fan of Matt’s daily charts, and one of his latest charts shows the results of a poll asking for people to vote on the “Best Attraction in Every State,” and the best in TN is voted to be Graceland, and Kathleen confesses that she is NOT an Elvis fan. She describes her parent’s reviews of one of Elvis’s last shows in Vegas, and while her mother gave the show 5 stars, her dad had a completely different opinion. Kathleen thinks Memphis is completely underrated as a tourist destination, loves Beale Street and thinks it screams everything cool like Prince and funk. HOUSEKEEPING: Kathleen updates us on the fallout at Liberty University after Jerry Falwell Jr.’s scandalous yacht photo was published, reviewing the latest details that have been released involving the Falwell family pool boy to the turmoil at Liberty U. after Falwell was released
Kathleen also provides an update to comments that listeners have provided regarding the Busch Light limited release of “Busch Latte,” detailing the Midwest states that the beer can be found in and recommending that listeners who enjoy a breakfast beer head over to watch the latest of Anheuser Busch’s Busch Latte commercial, which is a parody of a vintage Folger’s Coffee ad.
In Episode 3, Kathleen discussed Dolly Parton’s uncharacteristic move of speaking out in support of Black Lives Matter in a recent Billboard Magazine article. In response, Adult Swim’s “Squidbillies” voice actor Stuart Baker posted derogatory remarks on Facebook against Dolly. Within days, it was widely reported that Baker had been fired from the show, and Baker again went to Facebook to posthis anger regarding the response from the network. Kathleen singles out her favorite response to his post, reading a tweet from @kittynoveau proclaiming Dolly’s victory.
UPDATE ON USPS: Kathleen continues to promote her love for the Post Office, and to her delight, another of her favorite celebrity icons is also a massive fan of USPS and sees the need to show support. Kathleen discusses Cher’s recent tweets asking all Americans to support the Post Office, and went as far as to call two of her local branches to ask if she can volunteer.
WORST ATTRACTION IN EVERY STATE: Kathleen shares her thoughts on a fun chart posted on Instagram by one of her favorite nerds, @mattsurlee. The map showcases the most popular answers to the “Worst Attraction In Every State,” which includes the Gum Wall in Washington, Noah’s Ark Encounter in Kentucky, and the Rocky Statue in Pennsylvania.
