Join the Ladies of Macabre as they get as giddy as school girls, talking about the phrases we commonly use today that are taken for granted and actually have very dark meanings. We thought we’d do something a little dark, but a little bit fun on this episode, considering we have covered a lot of very heavy topics lately. This episode won’t be all kittens and rainbows...but it will be slightly less disturbing...we hope.

Macabre : Dark History - Hometown Macabre X 1 : Small Town Murders (Halley’s Hometown)
play

03/24/23 • 45 min

Every hometown has its own Hometown #macabre story. We want to hear yours! Today, Halley shares two stories that took place in her tiny little hometown, population around 1600 people.

UPDATE: There has been an update on one of the cases. One of the persons charged with murder in the first case...has been released from prison. This information had not been made public at the time of this recording. Halley just happened to hear it from someone who still lives in her home town. Apparently...they don't make this kind of thing public knowledge!

Please send your hometown MACABRE stories to [email protected] Or leave us a speakpipe in your own words on the website at www.macabrepod.com

(Up to 5 mins of recording time) Send us as much information as possible so we can dig in and do some research. Our hope is that we can collect enough hometown stories to start adding them into our rotation. We look forward to hearing and sharing your Hometown Macabre stories as a new segment on the show!

Macabre : Dark History - E is for Embalming: Everyone Rots, Eventually…?
play

05/02/23 • 72 min

Everyone rots eventually? Or do they?

In this episode we talk about body preservation techniques throughout history. Ancient cultures like the Egyptians and Arabians had unique body preservation techniques that mimicked human jerky and sickeningly sweet human rock candy. Leonardo da Vinci even performed embalmings on cadavers in pursuit of perfecting his art. And good ole Abraham Lincoln might have been responsible for the rise of the Industrial Death Complex during the Civil War.
