Los Nazarenos
10/05/20 • 54 min

In this episode of Los Nazarenos podcast we examine the name of God communicated in scripture, or lack thereof. We'll be reflecting on Moses's encounter with the burning bush from Exodus Chapter 3 (follow along here).
Then we'll compare this with some reflections from St. Bonaventure from his work The Journey of the Mind to God (check it out here!).
We'll also revisit Bonaventure's concept of the Veiled Word of God and reflect on the appearance of the messenger of the Lord to Hagar in Genesis Chapter 16 (here!).

The Way of Beauty in Franciscan Theology. Ep. 17
Los Nazarenos
09/28/20 • 53 min
A friend suggested we look at the the topic of the way of beauty in Franciscan Theology.
We start by examining Francis of Assisi's Canticle of Brother Sun, and how it orients our hearts to the beauty of God's creation in the elements, the creatures of the world, and humanity.
We then build on this theme by using St. Bonaventure's Triple Way and notion of vestiges that lift up our heart to God.
We round out our conversation by examining the theology of Blessed John Duns Scotus and his notion of Haecceity, and how moral actions can be ordered to beauty.
Thanks Nancy!

Justin & Kerwin Ruin the Trinity... maybe. Ep. 15
Los Nazarenos
09/14/20 • 55 min
Kerwin and Justin do their best job they can to communicate different theologies of the Trinity. In this episode we draw on the theologies of St. Bonaventure and Karl Rahner on the Trinity. Do we do a good job? Maybe, probably not. Do we try? Yes! Actually not too shabby.
So if you're looking to be as confused as we were by the end of the recording on this episode, then check it out!
In the end it's a mystery and we're really just grasping at straws here.

Have you ever wondered what is going on with how God is portrayed in the Old Testament, blowing people up and flooding the world? And then there is this really loving person named Jesus who we also say is God? Have you also been let down by apologists on the radio who give a pretty weak answers to this question? Well you're not alone, and hopefully our take on the answer to this question will be a little more satisfying. It also based on official Church teach so that's plus ;-)
We reference the Vatican II document Dei Verbum which you can access here!
We also look at Chapter one of the Book of Ezekiel, which is a wild ride so hold on to your Bibles! Follow along with us here.

Mass, Adoration, and Elijah. Ep. 10
Los Nazarenos
06/24/20 • 45 min
In this episode we strike up some controversy! Our main discussion revolves around the notion that Eucharist Adoration is somewhat taking priority over Mass, and that Adoration gets worship correct, but gets the Eucharist wrong. We argue that dioceses and cities that have more resources should place greater emphasis on special Masses, rather than Adoration.
K. Money will also share his experiences on a recent retreat in Mexico. And Los Nazarenos Bible Theater will take us to the Book of Kings, where Elijah faces off with the prophets of Baal.
