Lord of Adders Black: A Blackadder Podcast
Episode 22: Sacred Cows and Silly Bulls
Welcome to the Lord of Adders Black fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the universe of cult sitcom Blackadder while diving off at the occasional gleeful tangent.
Michael’s two favourite 80s sitcoms – one from the past, one from the future – come together to give us this episode’s Scene Stealer: Red Dwarf’s very own Chris Barrie. We talk about the leading roles at the centre of Chris’s curiously un-chequered career and his memorable appearance in Nob & Nobility as an evil French revolutionary who is “hung like a baby carrot and a couple of petits pois”.
Our special guest this time around is Tyler Adams, the brains behind the wonderful GoonPod podcast about the Goon Show and classic comedy in general. We talk about podcast envy and sacred cows among Blackadder fandom. Tyler also shares his theory on why Blackadder Goes Forth is the Sgt Pepper of the Blackadder oeuvre – and why that might not be the high praise it might seem to be.

Episode 21: Shout, Shout and Shout Again!
Welcome to the Lord of Adders Black fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the universe of cult sitcom Blackadder while diving off at the occasional gleeful tangent.
Rather than having a special guest on as usual, we decided it was time for another two-hander episode – and for a celebration of all things Stephen Fry!
We begin by taking a look at His Tweediness’s work outside Blackadder, including Fry & Laurie, Jeeves & Wooster and his winning way with the written word. And, of course, we take a look at Lord Melchett, General Melchett and the Duke of Wellington, the three main roles he played in the Blackadder canon.
Yes, “canon” – because only girls fight with swords these days ...

Episode 23: Diss and Distillery
Welcome to the Lord of Adders Black fan podcast, where Michael and Ian explore the universe of cult sitcom Blackadder while diving off at the occasional gleeful tangent.
In this first ever face-to-face episode, Michael takes a short break from leap-frogging around Europe to drop in on Ian in Cologne and record an episode in the same hallowed space, over the same microphone and drinking from the same bottle of scotch.
As well as reminiscing about our first foray into the dark and seedy underbelly of the podcasting world and revisiting some of our favourite moments, we explore the various incarnations of Blackadder himself, from the weaselly Prince Edmund to the waspish Captain Blackadder.
Oh ... and we've started a new poll asking Blackadder fans to rate the four series of Blackadder in order of fluffiness.
Simply click on the link to take part. As with the last poll, there is no need to sign up: just make your choices and press Send:
