The Toronto Blue Jays are still in the middle of their all-star weekend, so we decided to continue our mid-season rankings and draft analysis during this episode. The Blue Jays went pitcher-heavy this draft, taking four pitchers in the first six rounds of the draft. Johnny King was a pick we liked for the Toronto Blue Jays on day two, as well as grabbing catcher Aaron Parker for a middle-round power-bat for this prospect system. It was a good idea for this team draft a lot of pitchers, as this bullpen has debatable been the worst bullpen in all of baseball this season. With underperforming players, injuries, and unforeseen circumstances, this bullpen has been a mess since the start of the season. In this episode, we break down day 2 of the MLB draft and its implications on the future of the Toronto Blue Jays, as well as some updates from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the all-star game. In the second half, we go over the struggles of the bullpen, analyzing what went wrong, and giving out letter grades for their performances in 2024. Your current Toronto Blue Jays roster: Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, Kevin Gausman, Jordan Romano, Alek Manoah, Yariel Rodriguez, George Springer, Yusei Kikuchi, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Justin Turner, Daulton Varsho, Danny Jansen, Alejandro Kirk, Joey Votto, Erik Swanson, Kevin Kiermaier, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Davis Schneider, Ernie Clement, Spencer Horwitz, Chad Green, Tim Mayza, Trevor Richards, Genesis Cabrera, Yimi Garcia, Bowden Francis, Ryan Burr, Orelvis Martinez, Ricky Tiedemann, Zach Pop, Addison Barger, Nate Pearson, Nathan Lukes, Aaron Sanchez. The Toronto Blue Jays pitchers and catchers report to Dunedin today. Which players are you excited to watch in spring training? Are there any players that you think will surprise fans during spring training?

The Toronto Blue Jays have two players who have declined their mutual options with the team this offseason: Matt Chapman and Whit Merrifield. Matt Chapman had an unbelievable April, winning Al Player of the Month, but fell off a cliff for the rest of the season. Whit Merrifield was inconsistent as well, posting great stats in July but failing to keep up his momentum in the last two months of the season. Should the Toronto Blue Jays resign Matt Chapman and Whit Merrifield? Which player would you rather have?

The Toronto Blue Jays did not hit a home run with a runner on base after September 1st last season. The Blue Jays could not find ways to drive runners in throughout the 2023 season. Why was this such a massive problem for the Blue Jays? How can the Toronto Blue Jays fix this?

Your current Toronto Blue Jays roster: Vladimir Guerrero Jr, Bo Bichette, Kevin Gausman, Jordan Romano, Alek Manoah, Yariel Rodriguez, George Springer, Yusei Kikuchi, Jose Berrios, Chris Bassitt, Cavan Biggio, Justin Turner, Daulton Varsho, Danny Jansen, Alejandro Kirk,

05/02/24 • 37 min

The Toronto Blue Jays lose the series to the Kansas City Royals. The offense continued its consistency this season, they have consistently been horrible. In other news, Alek Manoah had an unbelievable start in Triple-A, striking out 12 and only walking three. With Yariel Rodriguez re-aggravating his back injury, there is an opening spot in this rotation. If you were John Schneider, who would you give the fifth starting rotation spot? Would you go with Alek Manoah, Bowdin Francis, or Trevor Richards or would you go with someone else entirely? In this episode of Locked on Blue Jays, we do a deep dive into games 2 and 3 of the Blue Jays and Royals series, breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly of this series of Toronto Blue Jays baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays walk off the Baltimore Orioles in the third game of the series 3-2. This was a huge win for the Blue Jays, as they now have a chance to split the series. Justin Turner hit a huge milestone today, getting his 1500th hit today, adding another accolade to a stellar career. He went 3-4 today, with a double and the single that would turn into the game-winning run. IKF continues to impress from the plate, gathering two hits, as well as two RBI and of course, the game-winning hit to put the Blue Jays on top. Jose Berrios continues to be one of the bright spots on this baseball team, having another quality start against a powerhouse offense in the Baltimore Orioles. Jose Berrios has now thrown for a quality start in eleven of his thirteen outings this season. We also go over some comments we got on our last podcast regarding the Baltimore Orioles' history, and how it can be related to the Toronto Blue Jays' current situation. A wild weekend of Toronto Blue Jays baseball ends with a series loss to the Minnesota Twins 2-1. This was a weekend that nobody could have predicted. The Toronto Blue Jays got an unbelievable start from Alek Manoah Sunday, they came back from a 7-1 deficit in game two, and Yusei Kikuchi pitched 8 innings in game 1. Vladimir Guerrero Jr was on fire this series, having seven hits in three games, and continues to improve at the plate. George Springer was sick for the first two games of the series, to nobody's surprise the top of the order looked dangerous at the plate, swinging to do damage and having very long and tough at-bats with Davis Schneider leading things off in both games. Ross Atkins is in his 9th season as the General Manager of the Toronto Blue Jays. Under Ross Atkins, the Blue Jays have failed to win a playoff game since 2016, when Ross inherited a World Series contending team from Tony Lacavo, but really it was Alex Anthopoulos who built this team from the ground up. Ross Atkins has made some great trades in the past, but it has not led to success for the Toronto Blue Jays organization. This season, he went full out on pitching and defense to limit as many runs as possible. So far, his plan has not panned out. We break down some of Ross Atkin’s biggest transactions with the Toronto Blue Jays, the team's success under his tenure, and what we can expect from the Toronto Blue Jays and Atkins for the rest of the season. We also break down the National series pitching matchups and what we expect from the Toronto Blue Jays this weekend. What do you think should be done with Ross Atkins? Who is to blame for the Blue Jays struggles? Toronto Blue Jays fans have been hoping for a big move all offseason. Ross Atkins has made a few moves this offseason, but there are still some holes in this Blue Jays lineup. We break down the moves that we would make if we were the Toronto Blue Jays General Manager. What position would target in free agency? Are there any free agents that stand out?

Kevin Kiermaier was the perfect off-season addition last season for the Toronto Blue Jays lineup. He was the best number-nine hitter in the league last season and won the Fourth Gold Glove of his career. Will Kiermaier continue to be successful for the Toronto Blue Jays?

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced that they will be unveiling their New City Connect jerseys for the 2024 season. What should these jerseys look like? Do you think the Toronto Blue Jays should bring back all-black jerseys?

Toronto Blue Jays have made another signing to contribute to their infield depth: Eduardo Escobar. Eduardo played exclusively at Second and Third base last season. Eduardo Escobar struggled from the left side of the plate last season but made up for it by mashing left-handed pitching from the right side of the plate all season long. For a Toronto Blue Jays team

that struggled to drive runners in, this should contribute to the Blue Jays' success for this season. How would you rate this signing?

Your hosts analyze some alternative options to signing Justin Turner, comparing his last season's offensive stats to some of the Best Hitters that were on the Free agent market including Jorge Soler, JD Martinez, Brandon Belt, Jeimer Candelerio, Rhys Hoskins, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr.

We break down how different signings would have impacted the Toronto Blue Jays roster, and if any of these players would have been a better fit for this lineup.
