Das IDK MIMESIS bietet eine innovative Forschungsstruktur, um theoretische Perspektiven, historische Dynamiken und transdisziplinäre Schnittstellen der Literatur und der Künste zu untersuchen. Es zielt auf Kooperationsfelder für Promotionsprojekte aus den Literatur-, Theater-, Film-, Musik- und Medienwissenschaften sowie aus der Kunstgeschichte, denen es ein Forum zur Verfügung stellt, um Forschungsvorhaben aus all diesen Fächern gegenüber den jeweils anderen Fächern zu öffnen und ins Verhältnis setzen zu können. Das gemeinsame Forschungsprogramm folgt dem Schlüsselbegriff Mimesis, der seit den Anfängen der Reflexionsgeschichte aller Künste Grundfragen ihrer Geltung, Wirkung, Möglichkeiten, Strategien sowie Machtansprüche stellt und auch in aktuellen Theoriedebatten neue Relevanz gewinnt.
