Can Therapy-Speak Help the Cause of Mental Health? A Discussion on Pop-Culture ft. Tanmoy Goswami from Sanity
Little Fixes- Women's Mental Health & Personal Growth
01/31/24 • 47 min
Trigger warning- The episode contains references to suicide and self-harm, please use your discretion before listening.
This episode is more of a free flowing conversation around mental health in pop-culture. I am speaking with Tanmoy Goswami who is a user-survivor and the creator of Sanity, an independent mental health storytelling platform with a reader community spanning over 50 countries. He is a past fellow of the Reuters Institute, University of Oxford, and a LinkedIn Top Voice in Social Impact. He serves on lived experience panels and committees across the world, and is a jury member for the Project SIREN Awards that recognises journalistic excellence on the topic of suicide prevention.
It’s a nuanced discussion for inquisitive minds and for people looking to bring about even a tiny change when it comes to mental health. We’ll talk about the pros and cons of therapy-speak becoming a part of everyday language as in everyone throwing around terms like trauma, depression, OCD etc. I and Tanmoy also discuss trauma dumping, the importance of acknowledging lived experiences and other related topics that affect all of us.
Please bear in mind that neither me nor Tanmoy is a mental-health professional and we are simply sharing our experiences and learnings in an attempt to help.

Is Work-from-Home a Blessing? Pros, Cons and Making it Fairer to Women ft. Neha J Hiranandani
Little Fixes- Women's Mental Health & Personal Growth
10/30/24 • 38 min
I have been working from home since 2014 and have realised that it's both a boon and a bane. As a freelancer, I can decide my own schedule which gives me flexibility but this same ease becomes a problem too. I am sure most freelancers, especially women would agree with me. Even the people around us don’t take work from home as seriously especially if you are not working for a multinational. In homes where both husband and wife work from home, the wife is expected to take up more household responsibilities which is necessarily unpaid work. This episode is not a box of complaints but rather a discussion about work from home and how to make it fairer to women. My guest is Neha J Hiranandani.
Neha has spent the last two decades working on development issues, with a focus on gender equity in various organisations including the United Nations. Neha’s columns on social and economic issues have appeared in several prominent publications like Indian Express, Huffington Post, NDTV and Vogue. Her first book, Girl Power! Indian Women Who Broke the Rules, was a national bestseller and her latest book is The Padmas which has garnered a lot of attention and love as it features 50 men and women who have been awarded The Padma awards for their invaluable contribution.
Let’s talk about the pros and cons of working from home, self-care, guilt and so much more. Please help me bring more such conversations to you by sharing this episode with your friends- just copy the link and send over whatsapp, email or a simple text message.

How to Set Your Kids for Success by Letting Them Be- 45
Little Fixes- Women's Mental Health & Personal Growth
11/18/20 • 32 min
Always looking for new learning activities for kids? New classes to join, new things to learn? We have all done that because we want our kids to succeed in a way we want. We push them to do things that other kids are doing. Soon, our kids also leave their creativity behind and want to be like everyone else.
What if we gave them freedom, let them explore what they like and then do what they want. Such kids are more likely to succeed later in life even in the most conventional things.
To discuss this, I invited Moushmi Prakasham, ex-marketing professional and one of my favourite Insta-moms. What she says makes complete sense and her ideas are easily applicable to every kid and parent. Tune in now.

How These Indian Fathers Ensure Equal Parenting and Why It Is Important- 43
Little Fixes- Women's Mental Health & Personal Growth
11/04/20 • 40 min
Ideally, there should be no need for the term ‘Equal Parenting’ but there is because very few fathers are completely involved in the upbringing of their kids. I spoke to Nadir Kanthawala and Peter Kotikalapudi of Pops in a Pod Podcast about how and why they make sure that they give as much time to their kids as their wives. They make many important points in this fun conversation which every parent should listen to.

Body Positivity, Mental Health and Happiness- A Candid Conversation with Komal Narang from My Happinesz- 42
Little Fixes- Women's Mental Health & Personal Growth
10/28/20 • 51 min
We all have talked about body positivity at some point but these conversations aren’t complete until we talk about all shapes and sizes without giving advantage to any of them. It simply means normalizing all body types rather than saying plus size or even ‘minus’ size for that matter. To talk about this in detail, I invited well-known blogger and influencer Komal Narang to share her experiences of body shaming and how she deals with it. I admire how honest she is and openly shares her thoughts. You will love her even more after listening to this conversation. We are making some very even important points here in the most unlikely way. Hit Play right now.
