I like to think of myself as an open minded parent who doesn’t push her daughter for anything but guess what I realised when I was researching for this episode? I realised that I sometimes force her without being aware of it and sometimes I am too lenient. This conversation helped me find a balance. I am speaking with author Arti Sonthalia.

She has a bunch of books, Big Bully and M-me (which was nominated for the Crystal Kite Asia Awards) Hungry To Read, Best Friends Forever (won the FICCI book of the year award 2020) Hungry To Play (shortlisted for the Neev Awards 2020), Read Write Race and Mehar’s World of Colours which is about letting the kids be.

Arti herself is an entrepreneur turned author. This episode is an open discussion between two parents about raising kids. I learnt from talking to Arti and you’ll also have some aha moments.

Please help me have more such conversations by sharing this episode with your friends- just copy the link and send over whatsapp, email or a simple text message.

Too old, too young, not good enough, too good for this- we have many such notions but thankfully people are talking about these limiting beliefs and we are seeing inspiring stories of people doing things in their own time at their own pace. I have one such inspiring woman’s story for you. Namrata Lodha launched Myaraa hats at the age of 52. It was her first venture and this entrepreneurship journey started in a living room. The idea was to (re)introduce the concept of hats as an accessory but with a unique design element in it.

Inspired by the natural grass fiber baskets from her childhood home in Madhya Pradesh, Namrata designs these accessories with the same material. This production empowers rural women whose families abandoned them for marrying outside their community or being a widow. The company makes work accessible in rural India for these women making sure that when you buy a sunny hat it comes bundled with the social and financial empowerment of a woman.

This is a story of breaking norms and also of family support and giving back to society. Listen in to get inspired and share it with your friends.

I love fashion, always have. My sartorial sense has improved over the years but I do make wrong fashion choices like most of us laypersons. To minimize the mistakes and to bring our style more on point, I have a fashion expert with me. Benaisha Kharas is a master image consultant & integrated personal counsellor. She is passionate about infusing self-love and self-care in her clients, so that they can develop a powerful, influential, and charismatic personality. She imparts skills on the art and science of emotional well-being and image management to women, young adults, professionals from corporates and even fashion brands.

She tells us-

-what is style

-how do we find our personal style

-how to balance personal style with trends

-should fashion be age appropriate

-Western wardrobe essentials

-Indian wardrobe essentials

-Benaisha’s favourite budget friendly brands

I wanted to discuss a lot more but the time limit stopped us. Anyway, this episode is value packed whether you are a total fashionista or in the process of discovering your style. Do remember that none of the things we talk about here are absolute so please listen with an open mind and enhance your fashion game.

Please follow Little Fixes on your podcast and share with a friend who might benefit from it.
