In no time at all, my sister dragged me and my cousin Trap into her treasure hunt. It was an adventure I'd never forget. ©2004 Geronimo Stilton; (P)2009 Listening Library Members Reviews: Best of all My 7yo daughter discovered these books at her elementary school library. We often sit down to read them aloud and I must say these are creative and entertaining books! When she falls asleep, I read to the end! Geronimo Stilton is a cute, creative little character that takes many trips and gets himself into lots of predicaments. His sister Thia also gets in on the action and has apparently gotten her own line of books of well, though I have not yet read these. Best of all, there are many books in this series, so I can continue to purchase them for my kids as gifts as they grow! Eight year old loves them Bought it for my 8 year old...she loves the series...very well illustrated Loved the story What a delightful book. This book was purchased and donated to an elementary school here in Wichita, KS. Loved the story! Five Stars Great for kids who are starting to read independently! Five Stars good reading for 3rd grader, good price and fast shipping.

Through her eyes, we witness the day-to-day splendor the czar's family experienced before the onslaught of the Russian Revolution. However, one also senses that crowding the outskirts of Anastasia's ornate diary are hundreds of thousands of teeming serfs, just beginning to percolate. Critic Reviews: "This fictive diary...will fascinate children." (Kirus Reviews) Members Reviews: Interesting This had a very interesting storyline. It provided informatin about the historical abckground I knew nothing about. It made me want to learn more about this historical family. If you like fictional stories based on a historical outlook this is a must read book. I know I loved it. Original Structure of Poor Content Anastasia retells what she writes in her diary as she writes it. She shows her perspective of the history as she perceives it. Since she knows very little of what is happening outside her house and family life, it has little to nothing to tell about her times. I guess it tries to imitate the idea of the diary of Anne Frank. But it's boring as hell.

Erickson Format: Unabridged Length: 2 hrs and 42 mins Language: English Release date: 05-22-08 Publisher: Maverick Books Inc Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 66 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10 Publisher's Summary: Using his top-notch law enforcement skills, Hank launches one of the hardest-hitting investigations of his career. No one is to be trusted, and everyone is a suspect - even Hank! With no clues and no evidence, the case seems uncrackable. Can Hank solve the crime - and prove his own innocence - before he's relieved of his command? Includes two original songs: "Bark at the Mailman Battle Hymn" and "I'm Locked in the Jailhouse with Buzzards on the Roof". Members Reviews: He is a disrespectful noodle head Some dogs are just plain goofy. Hank is one of them. Definitely some adult humor here. At one point Hank is called an 'ignernt sunny bridge' even though he doesn't know what that means. If you have young uns that plain otta not hear them things, then wait till they're older and can deal with it. Overall, the performance is far better than the story but Hank kind of grows on the reader/listener.

Members Reviews: Favorite nonfiction series for kids My younger son and I loved listening to this book. Both my sons loved this series: nonfiction, but very lively and fast moving. This one featured a good narrator and one of the more interesting figures in world history. We listen before bedtime where the short length is helpful, but this would be good for a car trip too. Highly recommended! Good intro This is a good quick intro to the life of Marco Polo. It leaves a lot of detail out but makes the listener want to investigate more about the man's life.

When they learn that their grandmothers quiet Vermont inn, where theyre spending the summer, has a history of ghost sightings, they decide to do a little haunting of their own. Before long, their supernatural pranks have tourists flocking to the inn, and business booms. But Travis and Corey soon find out that they arent the only ghosts at Fox Hill Inn. Their thoughtless games have awakened something dangerous, something that should have stayed asleep. Restless, spiteful spirits swarm the inn, while a dark and terrifying presence stalks the halls and the old oak grove on the inns grounds. Only Travis and Corey can lay to rest the ghosts theyve stirred. This means discovering the secret of Fox Hill and the horrors visited on its inhabitants years before.... Once again, Mary Downing Hahn has created a chilling and gripping ghost story in the tradition of The Old Willis Place, Witch Catcher, and Deep and Dark and Dangerous. Members Reviews: Good Suspense Would you consider the audio edition of All the Lovely Bad Ones to be better than the print version? It depends on whether or not I'm knitting. Who was your favorite character and why? the narrator What does Jeffrey Cummings bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book? The ability to knit or cook while still hearing a great story. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? No. Especially not right before bed. Any additional comments? Worth the time. The really lovely ones Beautiful, enjoyable, and intriguing book. We had to do this book as a read assignment for school. it was so magnetic that I could not stop listening to it. Lovely! Funny, sad, not. too scary Funny, sad. and. not. too. scary. why. do. I need. to write. more. words. to. do. a review. which. is. torture. on. my phone A cute, sweet story Would you listen to All the Lovely Bad Ones again? Why? I wouldn't reread it by myself, I'm not a rereader typically, but I might read it with kids. The protagonists are children, and the book itself seems geared, with its milder scares and its themes, to be geared towards a younger audience. Teens and tweens love scary books, so knowing authors that write in this genre that aren't going to melt a kid's ears off are good to find. What other book might you compare All the Lovely Bad Ones to and why? A House With a Clock in its Walls is aimed at a similar audience, but while Bellairs' Louis is wracked with guilt over his slip up, Hahn's siblings don't seem to feel much remorse. They're a fun pair. What does Jeffrey Cummings bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book? He livens up the funny parts, helping you see what's funny about the bad kids' bad behavior, as well as the scary in the scary parts, and when the scary is funny, or the funny is scary, that takes a deft reader. It doesn't always come off perfectly, but Hahn is asking Mr. Cummings to keep an awful lot of plates spinning at once. Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting? Nope, it was a book to listen to while out walking. I am sure people were wondering what I was laughing at while I was walking along. : ) Good story, poor narration. Would you try another book from Mary Downing Hahn and/or Jeffrey Cummings? I would try another book from Mary Downing Hahn, but not one narrated by Jeffrey Cummings.

But nothing about wizardry, not even vacation, is ever quite that simple. Back home, Dairine and her dad have to cope with their side of the exchange: three young wizards who've just moved in and are eager to start experiencing a strange alien culture...Earth. Meanwhile, Nita finds herself in a world that is a little too perfect. You can listen to Diane Duane's entire series. ©2003 Diane Duane; (P)2003 Recorded Books, LLC Critic Reviews: "Excellent, intelligent writing, with enough technology intermingled with magic to please the palate of every fantasy and science fiction reader. Even readers outside the genre should take a look; you won't be disappointed!" (Amazon.com) Members Reviews: A Great Book I loved this new twist on a "working holiday." Nita and Kit get to go to the beach and relax. While there they have to find out the reason they were sent, after all the 'powers' don't waste energy. Dairine stays home plays host to the exchange-wizards, a motley crew who are the key to a successful visit. All kinds of fun and wizardry ensue. I loved getting to know Dairine better. The only bad part about this book is that it ends. I can't wait till Book 8 hits Audible! great OK, so the series started over 20 years ago, somehow I managed to miss it. We only have two books available to us here, numbers 5 & 7. Since 5 sounds based around the central character's mom's death I decided to start with this one. The story is great, and the reader is great. Youthful wizards which may sound a little like Harry Potter, but it isn't. And there is a lot of humor. I really love the characters, both the central and new to volume characters. So much that I've gone back and bought the first 3 books. I'm hoping 4 & 6 will become available here before I have to do something drastic like buying them also. Even my 14 (almost 15) year old non reader loves these.

Title: Paint the Wind Author: Pam Muñoz Ryan Narrator: Kathleen McInerney Format: Unabridged Length: 5 hrs and 4 mins Language: English Release date: 02-11-08 Publisher: Scholastic Audio Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 60 votes Genres: Kids, Ages 8-10 Publisher's Summary: A world away, in the rugged Wyoming wilderness, a wild mustang called Artemisia runs free, belonging only to the stars. In a land where mountain lions and wranglers pose an ever-present threat, she must vigilantly protect her new foal...until a devastating act separates them from their band. Like a braided rein, Maya's and Artemisia's lives will ultimately intertwine. Together, they hold the key to each other's survival. Editorial Reviews: Award-winning veteran Kathleen McInerney brings to life the hunger for freedom that drives Pam Munoz Ryan's 11-year-old heroine Maya to seek out the important lessons about love and life that she's been denied under the control of her overprotective grandmother. The tone of McInerney's performance shifts into a greater solemnity as the narration passes back and forth between orphaned Maya and the perspective of the wild mare Artemisia whose destiny is linked to hers. From the exacting snootiness of the members of high society who have constrained young Maya to the rustic twang of her Wyoming relatives who aid her in her journey of self-discovery, McInerney captures the spirit of Maya's adventure from sheltered naiveté to independence and strength. Members Reviews: For horse lovers This was the first audio book that would actually keep my 11 y.o. daughter interested. The story follows a young girl as she works through a myriad of adversity to find out more about her late parents, of who she remembers little. The author is quite knowledgeable in the ways of the equine and her writing imparts a lot of horse learning within the story, going as far as telling some of it through the thoughts of the main horse character. It is well written, is fairly fast-paced and the reader does a good job with the different characters, without being too "hammy". This is a great book for a 5 hr. car ride with a young (or old) horse lover! Great book for girls and moms We were looking for a horse book that featured a girl. Maya is a strong and smart girl, but she still has a lot to learn about life and relationships. She makes some mistakes and she knows it, but she learns to make the best of her situation. Meanwhile the story itself is one that draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you wondering what will happen next. I will be looking for more by this author. My 3rd grade horse-loving daughter listened to this book first and encouraged me to listen as well. Exhilarating and delightful adventure I loved this book. I couldn't envision how I would enjoy a tale about a horse and its rider. But of course it was a Pam Munoz Ryan book. I have learned that every story she pens is endearing. And this story comes with amazing life lessons. I heartily recommend this to children and adults. Good for grown-up "horse girls" too! Where does Paint the Wind rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far? I wasn't expecting to enjoy this as much as an adult, but it was great. I reconnected to my girlhood days spent in love with horses, dreaming of horses and reading horse books. A refreshing read over the holidays. Paint the wind Its a adventure for a young girl and is for all the horse lovers out there

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not? I remember reading this book as a ten year old. I wonder if that edition had been edited?? I find this version much in need of a good editor. Would you recommend Five Little Peppers and How They Grew to your friends? Why or why not? Questionable. What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike? Seems cumbersome. A ten year old might take a different opinion. excellent we loved it a beautiful story for age 7 yr old girl and 11 yr old boy
