Title: The Curse of the Shadows
Level: Advanced (C1-C2)
#Story :
Lena had always been fascinated by the paranormal. Growing up listening to tales of haunted places and spirits, she had an insatiable desire to uncover the truth behind the myths. When she first heard of Hollow Graveyard, a place where no one dared to step after dark, it became her obsession.
The cemetery was rumored to hold a curse—whispers of voices that would call you in, of people who entered never to return. But Lena was no stranger to danger. She was determined to find out what lay hidden there, regardless of the warnings. So, one autumn evening, under the glow of a crescent moon, she set off for the cemetery.
As Lena arrived, the atmosphere was exactly as she had imagined—silent, eerie, and shrouded in thick fog. The tombstones, covered in centuries of moss, seemed to loom over her, their cracked faces barely visible in the dim light. It felt as if the land itself was breathing, waiting for something.
The further she ventured into the graveyard, the more uneasy she became. There was an unnatural stillness in the air, like the world was holding its breath. The whispers began softly, barely audible at first, but soon grew louder and more distinct. It wasn’t the wind. Someone—or something—was speaking.
The wind died down, and the whispers intensified into a chorus, pulling her toward an ancient tombstone at the far end of the cemetery. The inscription was almost unreadable, but one word stood out clearly: "Keeper."
Lena felt a chill run down her spine as she knelt beside the tombstone, brushing away the moss. As her fingers touched the cold stone, the ground trembled slightly beneath her feet, and a crack appeared at the base of the tombstone, revealing an old iron door leading underground.
