Liquid Wisdom Podcast - Session 31:Taking Charge of your trauma with Jay Omega

Someone once said that “There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.” It's a potent sentiment. When I started this journey, I wanted to create something that resonates with every soul that should ever listen to my content. I have hoped that you can pull something from every visit and conversation. I hope that trend continues today with this episode's special guest: Jay Omega!
Awesome name aside, this mental health advocate and the streamer has overcome a great deal in his life and is healing and helping others all the same. You may not hear it in the episode, but this is his very first podcast appearance ever! In our conversation together, Jay tells the story of his childhood trauma and how it affected him growing up. He also talks about how he used the experience of his life to helping others.
We even discuss bullying and how parents can help mitigate the situation facing students today. Our life can be tough at times; there's no doubt about that. However, it makes Jay's story even more inspirational that while still healing on his journey to peace, he can be a source of hope for others.
I'm so grateful to have so many supportive people like yourself who come back and still support me. At the risk of repeating myself, it truly means a lot to me.
Remember, this season is about taking charge, so i hope you enjoy the ride! I couldn't have done this without you all! Enjoy the episode because there are lots of gems here that hopefully enrich your life. I hope you all continue to drive toward the horizon. I will do the same. Don't forget to download, listen, and share with someone who could use a little hope, and of course, don't forget to be awesome!

“Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending, he turned into a butterfly.”
—Anonymous proverb

Hello dreamers! It is a pleasure to see you again. There is something familiar about this, yet something different as well. The forty-first episode of this podcast is now available! The voice actor spotlight series continues featuring animator/fellow podcaster/voice actor Wilhemina Marie!

I have enjoyed doing this series so much. Learning from so many voice actors around the country and hearing their stories is a beautiful experience. Throughout Wilhelima's story, she discusses finding comfort in being able to make mistakes, what it means to her to see her peers succeed, as well as what it means to her to discover the art of balancing passion with self-care. I hope you find her story as enjoyable as I did.

Taking the time to care for yourself is always worthwhile, as is enjoying life a bit more. So maybe we will see each other again soon?

"Every adversity, every failure, every heartache carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit." Napoleon Hill

Dreamers! I am delighted to see all of you again! I hope you have enjoyed your spring so far. What does it take for you to keep going after enduring trauma when moving seems nearly impossible? What is it called when you somehow find a way to move forward?

This conversation aims to highlight my guest's growth journey following trauma. This week, I am joined by the courageous podcaster and advocate Brianna Jones. Brianna highlights her journey of Post-trauma growth (PTG), helping others, among many other heart-wrenching yet courageous stories.

Post-traumatic growth (PTG) is a relatively new concept in psychology that refers to the positive changes and growth that can occur in individuals following a traumatic event or experience. While traumatic events can lead to adverse outcomes such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression, PTG suggests that individuals can also experience positive psychological changes as a result of their trauma.

PTG is not simply resilience or bouncing back from a difficult situation. It is a more profound and transformative experience that can lead to a higher level of functioning, greater life satisfaction, and a new perspective on life.

Research suggests that individuals who experience PTG often report several common changes, including:

  1. Increased personal strength and resilience: Following a traumatic experience, individuals may feel a sense of strength and resilience that they did not have before. This can lead to greater self-confidence and a more positive outlook on life.
  2. Greater appreciation for life: Individuals who experience PTG often report feeling more grateful and appreciative. They may be more mindful of the present moment and savor positive experiences.
  3. Improved relationships: Trauma can lead to re-evaluating relationships, resulting in more robust and meaningful connections with others.
  4. A new sense of purpose and meaning: Trauma can prompt individuals to re-evaluate their values and goals, leading to a greater sense of purpose and meaning.

It's important to note that PTG does not occur in everyone who experiences trauma. Some individuals may experience adverse psychological effects following a traumatic experience, such as PTSD or depression.

Overall, PTG is a promising area of research in psychology that highlights the potential for growth and positive change following traumatic events. Psychologists and mental health professionals can provide more comprehensive and holistic support to individuals who have experienced trauma by focusing on resilience and growth rather than just pathology.

Having the opportunity to speak with her was a pleasure. In the same way, it is likely to be true for you as you listen to it.

Taking the time to care for yourself is always worthwhile, as is enjoying life more. So maybe we will see each other again soon?

I have hoped that you can pull something from every visit and conversation. I hope that trend continues today with this episode's special guest: Mental Health Counselor Gary Nelson!
When you endure life, it has a way at times of either making you feel buried underneath the struggles, or it allows you to transform both your perspective and your energy to something greater. Sometimes having a guiding and measured hand can help us traverse our darker days.
This episode is truly incredible because I enjoyed speaking with Mental Health Counselor Gary Nelson! This brilliant and insightful brother, all the way from Jersey, stops by to chat about mental health, the struggles that African Americans endure when it comes to mental health, as well as the stigma from the media towards it! We even chat about the past and ways to overcome the trappings of anguish that sometimes shackles us from enjoying the present.
As you know, our past can, at times, shackle us from walking towards our future. Given how important a topic this is, I wanted to get the perspective of someone who has diligently studied and practiced the ever-changing art and science of counseling to provide some insight.
I'm so grateful to have so many supportive people like yourself who come back and still support me at the risk of repeating myself, and it truly means a lot to me. So I hope you enjoy this episode.

“The past beats inside me like a second heart.”
John Banville
Hello dreamers! It is a pleasure to see you again! Here we are again with another great conversation! The concept of time is one that many of us think about from time to time. There is no denying that it flows in the blink of an eye and moves in only one direction. Occasionally, memories of the past can compel us to return to the place where they occurred. It may be through music, movies, or television shows. Could you imagine if I told you there was someone who could serve as a guide to all of that?

Our guest on this episode does all of that and more. I am joined by Sharmanique the artist, the gracious and insightful host of the "Catch these vibes" podcast.

Our conversation focuses on the 90s, how she reinvented herself, her love of music, and how to maintain what we hold dear in an ever-changing world. Oh, and we discuss gift wrapping as well! Hah

Indeed a wonderful time!

I hope you find her story as enjoyable as I did.

Taking the time to care for yourself is always worthwhile, as is enjoying life a bit more. So maybe we will see each other again soon?

“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”-Winston Churchill

Greetings, dreamers! Once again, it is a pleasure to see you. We are back with another fascinating conversation!

Cooler weather is making its way around the world. I hope you are all enjoying it wherever you are. Various factors contribute to the importance of communities. It is crucial to have strong communities since they can be an essential source of social connection and a sense of belonging for individuals. Being a part of a community with shared attitudes, values, and goals is essential to living a fulfilling life

A sense of belonging, safety, and encouragement to come out of your shell can lead to many wonderful experiences. The voices of leadership that strive to connect others through relatable experiences are often underappreciated. Would it be possible to change that? This episode features XIT gaming's very own, Anya! She is a competitor, a TO, a coach, a streamer, and much more!

During our conversation, we discussed how vital safety is within the community, what it means to learn new skills and how to keep going, and the excitement of overcoming obstacles.

Indeed, it was a wonderful time!

I hope you find her story as enjoyable as I did.

Taking the time to care for yourself is always worthwhile, as is enjoying life a bit more. So maybe we will see each other again soon?

"The key is in not spending time, but in investing it." – Stephen R. Covey.
There was another great conversation, another episode to prove it took place. Don't you love it when hope is in full bloom? Haha.

Dreamers value their time highly. Since time is our most valuable resource, we must be mindful of how we spend it. We must spend it on activities that bring us joy and help us achieve our dreams. In this conversation, I spoke with someone who lives by that principle in many different ways. In this episode, I am joined by the amazing SakiSakura! By making the most of each moment, she strives to achieve the things that bring her happiness and help her achieve her goals. The example of SakiSakura serves as a shining example of someone who is mindful of their time and has achieved success.

Gaming serves as a healthy outlet for Saki's stress, and she is motivated by the challenge of learning rather than by recognition from others. Additionally, she believes that beauty goes beyond the surface and how to embrace who you are. Additionally, there are many other topics discussed throughout that I am sure you will enjoy!

In Saki's life story, our conversation is just one chapter out of many wonderful ones. Having the opportunity to speak with her was a pleasure. In the same way, it is likely to be true for you as you listen to it.

Taking the time to care for yourself is always worthwhile, as is enjoying life more. So maybe we will see each other again soon?
