Ving Rhames Is The Bad Guy
Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning
Hypothesis: Ving Rhames Is The Bad Guy
- Luther warns “NO ONE is safe from Phineas Phreak” (Luther's online alter-ego)
- Gabriel (bad guy) warned everyone at the party that the entity “will tell you he’s the only one who can save you.” Twenty minutes later, Luther tells one of the women (ilsa?) “We’re the only ones who can save you”. Ethan corrects him “No. None of us can save you ... “
- When Benji (Simon Pegg) rescues them all in the boat in the Venice canal at night, Luther is a silent, dark, out of focus presence in the center of the screen behind everyone else.
- Before the train scene, Luther tries to convince Ethan to kill Gabriel with some rambling, convoluted pseudo-logic puzzle that leads Ethan to only one conclusion; kill Gabriel— the only person close enough to the AI to get in Luther’s way. How convenient. (the cops prevent Ethan from killing Gabriel)
- Luther never shows up for the rest of the movie. Not even at the very end when the rest of the team reunite.
Luther, aka "Phineas Phreak" is the primary nemesis in the Mission Impossible movies.
