Life is Brough - Trials, Encouragement, and Confidence
play

11/26/19 • 12 min

Trials, tests, tribulation, afflictions, bad hair days, late to class days, miss the bus days, lost your wallet days, locked out of the house days. One thing that is inevitable is that life can be pretty "brough" sometimes. Welcome to the Life is Brough podcast where I talk about my ongoing mission to find encouragement, and confidence through faith in a life that can at times deal us a bad hand. Here you will find messages of hope, help, and hopefully you find a smile on your face as well.

Today, I share some of what I have been studying in the scriptures as well as a few experiences that I hope will bring some joy and hope to those who need it. The point of this podcast is to show that all things can work together for good, if not now then later, and to strengthen hope and faith through written and spoken word and life experience.

Life is Brough - Personal Rescue Scripture Sunday
play

01/12/20 • 17 min

Today in our Ward Conference our Bishop brought up an idea to have a Personal Rescue Scripture for when you find yourself in a time of distress and turmoil. I share a few of my favorites, with many more to come in the the episodes ahead, and I talk a bit about why these scriptures have found their way into my heart. I hope that each of you can find some of these scriptures of your own because I know that there is something out there for everyone and Heavenly Father is anxious to bless us and be there for us at all times if we will remember to look unto Him (and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ) in every thought, we can truly doubt not and fear not.

Life is Brough - "The Educator" - Life is Brough Interview #2
play

01/04/20 • 28 min

In today's special episode of the Life is Brough Podcast, I interview Brother Darren Schmidt, one of my very dear friends and a former Seminary teacher of mine when I was in High School. Brother Schmidt teaches Seminary currently, and is also a father of eight children (nine including himself, his wife would say), as well as a leader in his Ward. He has spoken at BYU Education Week, and has been an EFY Director and has been involved in EFY for several years. He is an author of a small book that he wrote for his children that he later made the choice to publish called "Table Salt and Testimony." Above all of this, I am excited to have him on the podcast today because of who I know Brother Schmidt is because of the impact that he had on me when I was sitting in the same seats that his current students sit in as Seminary students.

Life is Brough - Merry Christmas! Remember the Christ Child
play

12/22/19 • 13 min

Merry Christmas to everyone, I hope it is a wonderful time of year surrounded by people you love in the spirit of love, giving, charity, and above all Christ. Nearly 2 millennia ago Jesus Christ was born to Mary and Joseph and the world would never be the same again. That day changed every life for good. May we give thanks for that day and for whose day it is, as we are surrounded by those who love us, we can remember that we are always surrounded by those that love us namely, our Heavenly Father, and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.

Go check out "The Christ Child" video that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released as part of Light the World if you haven't already.

Life is Brough - Why do we REALLY give?
play

12/12/19 • 12 min

It's a fair question, why do we feel motivated to give to others? Especially during the holiday season, we are encouraged often to give to other people or to charitable organizations, by why should we put a few more coins in a bucket, or a few more gifts under the tree at the homeless shelter? This Christmas season, I hope we all will begin to see that it may not be the gift that is given that means the most but the burden that is lifted. As it is beautifully stated in Matthew 10:8, "freely ye have received, freely give."

This episode of the Life is Brough Podcast is made in Honor of Clarissa Conley - 9/20/2019. When life seems like you might drown, remember that we can have hope through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. In this podcast I share a portion of Clarissa's story of how she blessed my life on my mission in the California Modesto Mission. I am honored to have known her, and am grateful for the Gospel of Jesus Christ which gives us hope, and am grateful for the Savior of the World who is a Light which shineth in darkness.

When it comes to something as important as the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of God, we want to make sure that we know what we know to be true. Questions come and they go, and questions are good, but what happens when we don't know the answer? In this episode I talk about an experience that I had when I had questions that I had no answer to, and how the Lord renewed my spiritual strength as was prophesied of by Isaiah.

Life is Brough - Sweet is the Peace the Savior Brings
play

12/12/19 • 10 min

Today I was listening to a hymn that I have never heard before, but have come to love in a single afternoon. The Hymn, "Sweet is the Peace the Gospel Brings" has such an incredible message in its title alone, however as I searched the scriptures and had experiences of mine come back to my mind, I was reminded and convinced even more that the peace that the Savior brings us through His Atoning Sacrifice for us, and through His wonderful Gospel gift, we can have a peace that is unparalleled in our lives now and forever.
