People are often surprised to learn that true Education includes “the arts and sciences.” Christians often believe that science is contrary to the specific Christian teachings of creation, the flood & faith in Jesus, yet the Bible authors write of God’s amazing power in not only creating, but also sustaining our complex world. The Bible study today will look at Education in the arts and sciences from a Christian perspective.

When we think about education, we normally think of going to school—primary school, high school, TAFE, university. We think of classrooms, whiteboards, timetables and assignments. However, there is another important place where education occurs: the church! Let’s explore how significant the role of the church is in the learning process.
The Harvard Business Review recently ran an article with a fascinating title: “The Surprising Power of Questions.” The authors (Alison Brooks and Leslie John) say that questioning is a missed opportunity, and it is a powerful tool for unlocking value.
Over 80 years ago, Dale Carnegie wrote his famous book: How to Win Friends and Influence People. “Be a good listener. Ask questions the other person will enjoy answering,” he said. Even still, the article in Harvard Business Review went on to say “Most people still fail to heed Carnegie’s sage advice.”
