Leftover Millennials

Leftover Millennials

Khadija & Denny

Leftover Millennials is a podcast by Khadija Mbowe and Denny Ancheta. Eagerly teetering on their 30s, they provide unsolicited advice on unorthodox topics, explore conversations about formative pop culture zeitgeists, and satisfy their insatiable need for attention (Denny is speaking for himself). If you're looking for advice from two (sort of intelligent) individuals, shoot an email to [email protected] to be featured in an episode! Follow Khadija and Denny on IG at @khadija.mbowe and @pockypapi. Leftover Millennials cover photo made by Alice Gabou. Intro music by Davie Levesque.

We're back! We decided to take a well-deserved break from recording just to come back and talk about childhood and our parents so naturally we're (read: Denny) has been catapulted back into the throes of depression (half joking). This one is a lot -- be forewarned as there are topics such as emotional and mental abuse.

Happy Pride month! Shout out to all the banks and huge corporations whose marketing teams love emblazoning the rainbow flag everywhere but don't know who Marsha P. Johnson is, or can't tell the difference between Charli XCX, Arca and Sophie.
This is one is chaos personified so maybe have a chamomile tea on hand. Khadija and I discuss our feelings about Kendrick's latest drop (most specifically Auntie Diaries), cancel culture, the various states of disarray of the world, becoming desensitized to current events, how much we love our friends, and taking approximately 10-15 business days to recover from one night of drinking. Khadija also tells people to touch grass -- that one's for all you folks with a humiliation kink. Have a listen to Kendrick Lamar's Auntie Diaries from his new album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers before or after you listen to this week's episode! Or don't, you do you.
We also answer some questions! We love giving advice, never said it would be good advice though. Send through anything you're seeking advice for through to [email protected]. We also love hearing your feedback -- DM us at @theleftovermillennials if you want us to talk about a certain topic, provide us with things we can improve on, or my personal favourite -- to send hate mail! No, because receiving hate mail is kind of iconic.

Leftover Millennials - Episode 3: Friendships (and Breakups)
play

05/31/22 • 56 min

This week, Khadija and I discuss shadow work, their friendship (and villain?) origin story, managing your expectations in friendships, and going through the inevitable friend break up. We explore situations where we've had to come to terms with friendship loss within the Khadija and Denny multiverse, and how loss and grief affects everyone differently. Furthermore, we'd like to extend an apology for all the wine-induced wheezing and incoherent squealing which may or may not be cries for help.

THE Official Trailer

Leftover Millennials

play

05/06/22 • 2 min

Here at the Leftover Millennials podcast, we make no claims that this show will become your "new obsession", or even a "bingeable addiction". We're just two folks on the outskirts of 30 talking all things pop-culture, internet-culture, and the socio-political intersections we find along the way. We promise lots of chaos, lots of absurdity, lots of questions, a bit of delusion, and lots of laughs...at least on our end since we think we're the funniest people we know.

UNIQUE.
In this episode we have Khadija's editor, Travis (a fellow B stan), joining us to discuss our favourite tracks off of Renaissance, where we were when we heard the album for the first time, the Kelis controversy, how Beyoncé's Birkins in storage triggered the white luxury fashion community, and how this album has instantly solidified its iconic status in music history.
This album is for the stans.
