Later Dater - Yasmin Benoit - Asexuality and Aromanticism
play

06/09/22 • 40 min

On this episode of the podcast, Lucy delves into what it means to not experience sexual or romantic attraction.

Yasmin Benoit is a model and an award-winning asexual activist, and knew she didn’t feel romantically for people as a teen.

She talks honestly with Lucy about growing up, representation, and how not having the distraction and pressure of navigating romantic relationships has given her more time and headspace to do the things she loves!

Yasmin evidently leads a very fulfilling and enjoyable life without romance and sex, which leaves us all wondering; are we putting too much time and effort into finding relationships?

Later Dater - Sherry Lever - Domination at 70
play

05/12/22 • 38 min

In today’s episode, Lucy ventures into the world of BDSM. That’s bondage and discipline + sadism and masochism, and is joined by 70 year old dominatrix Sherry Lever aka Mistress Sofia.

You might be thinking that a job as a Mistress is all about latex and punishment, and you’d be absolutely right, but as Lucy finds out, there is so much more to it.

They discuss Sherry’s journey into the world of domination after a divorce, some of the clients that she’s helped through punishment, and why her job means she doesn’t need to have a romantic relationship.

Plus, Sherry shares how she deals with days when she doesn’t want to go to work, and just wants to wear a tracksuit... something we can ALL relate to!

If you want to find out more about Sherry and her work, you can check out her website, or her (NSFW!) Twitter.

Later Dater - Rosie Kay - Swinging and Ethical Non-Monogamy
play

05/05/22 • 43 min

In the first episode of Later Dater, Lucy is getting stuck right in and learning all about swinging. For many people, the term ’swinging’ conjures images of car keys in a bowl at a dinner party and partner swapping - but is that actually the case? (Has it ever been?)

To find out, Lucy’s talking to Non-Monogamy Coach Rosie Kay AKA This Kinda Girl.

After navigating the swinging lifestyle herself for the last ten years, Rosie works with people to explore ways they can open up their relationships, as well as to banish the stigma and myths associated with the lifestyle.

Lucy and Rosie discuss the ways that swinging and ethical non-monogamy can lead to more satisfying and fulfilled relationships, her own journey into the lifestyle, and the judgements she’s faced as an ENM person.

You can find more on Rosie on her website, on Instagram, and there are loads of great discussions and resources on Rosie’s YouTube.

Later Dater - Leanne Yau - Polyamory
play

06/16/22 • 41 min

In this episode, we’re talking once again about non-monogamy, but this time, Lucy is asking how feasible it is to be in love with more than one person at a time.

She chats to Leanne Yau, the founder of polyphilia.blog, a hugely popular Instagram and project which is full of resources and entertainment around polyamory, non-monogamy and open relationships.

In this episode, Lucy and Leanne chat about how people’s relationships can benefit from being more open, how that can work logistically, and what happens when sometimes those logistics don’t quite align (and you get home and your boyfriend is in the bedroom having sex with his date!)

Leanne also talks lots about the rise in popularity for content about polyamory in recent years (her Instagram has over 100k followers!), is this a lifestyle Lucy might want to try herself?

You can find more on Leanne... .

Later Dater - Mary - Sex, Love & Christianity
play

06/30/22 • 35 min

What happens when you’ve experienced casual relationships and sex, but have religious beliefs where that would be frowned upon?

Today Lucy meets Mary, who is a conservative Anglican Christian. Her church follows the bible very strictly in terms of theology, and they believe that relationships should be intentional; that is with the intent to marry.

Mary was raised as a Christian, but slipped away from the church when she was at university, where she experienced sexual relationships outside of marriage. Now in her thirties, Mary is single and has returned to the church.

In this episode, she talks to Lucy about being an anomaly in her church, how she identifies as bisexual but would never have a relationship with a woman, and how her beliefs have affected her friendship and relationships.
