Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Danny Garcia vs Paul Malignaggi Preview, Kovalev-Mohammedi Recap with Mike Baca
Have you ever been thumbed so badly that you actually didn't get thumbed at all and Sergey Kovalev just knocked you out? That's what happened to Nadjib Mohammedi on HBO last weekend. But Jean Pascal winning a fun, albeit dubious decision over previously unbeaten Cuban Yunieski Gonzalez made up for it in terms of entertainment. That unanimous decision, though... The real action, as everyone knows, will be on ESPN this Saturday. In the main event, Danny Garcia faces Paulie Malignaggi in his first official fight at welterweight. Courtesy of Premier Boxing Champions, of course. In the co-feature, Daniel Jacobs squares off against Sergio Mora -- yeah, the guy from The Contender -- for a belt and whatnot. There were also fights in London that involved Billy Joe Saunders, Dereck Chisora and Frank Buglioni. Likely far more important was the signing of Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux, which might not be what everyone wants, but should be explosive anyway. Don't forget possible Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto news, possible Miguel Cotto vs Saul Alvarez news, and more. And this week on Top Men Boxing Radio, Mike Baca of UCNlive joins the usual team of James Foley from Bad Left Hook, and The Fight City's Patrick Connor. Thanks for tuning in! Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Abner Mares vs Leo Santa Cruz, Mosley-Mayorga previews, Glowacki-Huck
As silly as 2015 has been for boxing and as frustrating it's been for many fans, there is still hope. The final four months or so of the year look more promising, starting with this weekend's match up between Abner Mares vs Leo Santa Cruz on ESPN, by Premier Boxing Champions. Not to be outdone, at least in the drama department, Shane Mosley is schedule to return after a more than 18-month layoff to face old foe Ricardo Mayorga on a Pay-Per-View show - if it doesn't get shut down by Don King first. Since Top Men took a week off, there's also a matter of Krzysztof Glowacki's highly entertaining upset win over reigning cruiserweight belt-holder Marco Huck to discuss. There is serious talk of it being the "Fight of the Year" thus far, and it's tough to argue at this point. Don't forget more random news, like updates on the Miguel Cotto vs Saul "Canelo" Alvarez ticket situation, and the same for Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto. There's an update for the Mayweather-Berto undercard, testing policy for Lucas Matthysse vs Viktor Postol, a new foe for Terence Crawford and more. Through it all, James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight CIty's Patrick Connor will try to keep you laughing. Or at least feeling awkward. Thanks for tuning in! Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Boxing History & True Crime - The Death of Tyrone Everett
There is no shortage of links between boxing and crime throughout history, and we enjoy when those things converge. In the 1970s, Philadelphia experienced serious gang and mafia violence in some parts of the city. In the middle of the decade, a young fighter named Tyrone Everett emerged as a likely future world champion. Everett lost a highly controversial decision to junior lightweight champion Alfredo Escalera in 1976, and before a rematch could take place, Everett was gunned down. On this episode of the Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio podcast, Patrick Connor and Aris Pina remember the boxing, the history and the true crime. Follow us on social media! Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux Preview

Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux Preview

Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio

Does David Lemieux have any chance at all against Gennady Golovkin, rising star and devstating middleweight puncher? How many Pay-Per-View buys will the fight generate? Will the atmosphere in a packed Madison Square Garden affect the fight itself? These are relevant questions, and we'll address them all on this week's episode of Top Men Boxing Radio. Not to be forgotten for an instant, on the HBO PPV undercard flyweight Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, the man anointed the best fighter in the world "pound-for-pound" upon Floyd Mayweather's announced retirement, battles veteran Brian "The Hawaiian Punch" Viloria in another meeting that's sure to be explosive. There were also a few surprises from last weekend that need to be addressed, like Terry Flanagan's destruction of Diego Magdaleno to retain his lightweight belt in Manchester, preceeded by Liam Smith's stoppage of John Thompson to claim a belt at junior middleweight. And in what might be the Knockout of the Year, Gabriel Bracero obliterated Danny O'Connor in front of the latter's hometown crowd. It was frightening. As always, expect other odds and ends from James Foley of Bad Left Hook and Patrick Connor of The Fight City. Remember to rate us on iTunes and like us on Facebook On Twitter... Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Mayweather-Berto Recap with Brin-Jonathan Butler, special guest Roy Jones Jr
Floyd "Money" Mayweather could have actually fought for the last time. The idea of a sport without a huge magnet sitting in the middle is nice. That the end may have come by way of a wide win over Andre Berto is underwhelming, but boxing. And now that the fight is out of the way, we have a potential PED mess to talk about. The good news is that the Pay-Per-View undercard was fun. "Rocky" Martinez and Orlando Salido were in another gritty war, Badou Jack shaded George Groves by decision, and Jonathan Oquendo upset Jhonny Gonzalez in a back-and-forth scrap. There was other boixing stuff on. Peter Quillin scored a nasty stoppage of Michael Zerafa; Vanes Martirosyan dropped Ishe Smith a few times in winning; Jermall Charlo wiped out Cornelius Bundrage; Adonis Stevenson took out Tommy Karpency easily; Errol Spence, Jr. broke down Chris Van Heerden; and Anthony Joshua mopped up Gary Cornish. There was a lot of boxing. Not all good, but it gives James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor a ton to discuss with author and filmmaker Brin-Jonathan Butler. Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Tyson Fury vs Wladimir Klitschko Recap, Jacobs-Quillin Preview
Tyson Fury is now the heavyweight champion of the world. That's strange to say, but true. Wladimir Klitschko no longer reigns over the division. Is Fury's defeat of Klitschko on HBO a good thing for boxing? How does Tyson Fury compare to other "surprise" champions? It's a topic fit for a Gypsy King. This coming weekend on Showtime, another "Battle for Brooklyn" looms, this time in the middleweight division. Brooklyn apparently has a lot of champions at this point. Daniel Jacobs fights Peter Quillin in what could be a very interesting matchup, if not a matchup between two of the slightly lower tier fighters in the division. We'll make the best of it. Not to be ignored, Chris Algieri fights Erick Bone on Showtime Extreme. So we have that to look forward to. Follow us on Twitter... James Foley: @FoloPunch Patrick Connor: @PatrickMConnor Top Men Boxing Radio on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TMBRadio And please rate us on iTunes, if you listen that way. Thanks for tuning in!

Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Canelo vs Miguel Cotto Recap, Klitschko vs Tyson Fury Preview
Rumors have swirled about how many Pay-Per-View buys Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's win over Miguel Cotto pulled in, and so far the news is quite good, if not surprising. It was a solid kinda-middleweight fight, but perhaps not the clash many had hoped for. The fight that stole all the attention was Francisco Vargas' war with Takashi Miura. In danger of being stopped by a damaged eye, Vargas rallied to end Miura's night in the 9th round. It was an instant "Fight of the Year" contender. As some may have expected, Guillermo Rigondeaux didn't entertain much on the card. But this coming weekend we get to see two huge fighters compete for the heavyweight title on in Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury, on HBO. This could be a case of who you think will win and who you want to win being two different things. Also on the menu, James DeGale fights a comebacking Lucian Bute on Showtime in Quebec City. All these things and more will be covered by James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor. And probably with too many jokes thrown in. On Twitter... James Foley: @JFoley81 Patrick Connor: @PatrickMConnor Top Men Boxing Radio on Facebook: And feel free to rate us on iTunes. Thanks for tuning in!

Knuckles and Gloves Boxing Radio - Floyd Mayweather vs Andre Berto Preview with Matthew Swain
The moment almost none of us have been waiting for is here. Floyd Mayweather fights Andre Berto this weekend on Pay-Per-View, for way too much money, under the guise that this will be his final bout. As you can see, we're really excited about the prospect of paying $75 to watch Floyd fight a guy who lost to Jesus Soto Karass and Victor Ortiz. At least the undercard (Badou Jack vs George Groves, Roman Martinez vs Orlando Salido II, Ishe Smith vs Vanes Martirosyan) isn't laughable. Earlier Saturday on NBC, Peter Quillin fights a guy named Michael Zerafa (just go look on the internet yourself, trust us), and Cornelius Bundrage fights for the first time in about a year against Jermall Charlo. Austin Trout fights tonight (Tues) on FoxSports 1, but on Friday light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson continues to face sub-par opposition when he defends against Tommy Karpency on Spike, from Premier Boxing Champions. Talented welterweight Errol Spence Jr. fights in the co-feature. On CBS last Sunday from PBC, Anthony Dirrell won a ho hum decision over Marco Antonio Rubio, and in the co-feature Jamie McDonnell again defeated Tomoki Kameda by controversial decision. It's been a mediocre year, as you all know. But there's news about Scott Quigg and Nonito Donaire being nearly finalized, some pointing and laughing to do about upcoming cards... And joining James Foley of Bad Left Hook and The Fight City's Patrick Connor once again this week is Matthew Swain of The Queensberry Rules. Thanks for tuning in! (Photos: Lucas Noonan/PBC)
