What Do You Do When You're Up Against A Wall? #106
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
06/04/24 • 13 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
Do you ever feel like you're doing what God told you to do and then you hit a wall?
The Lord showed me two ways of being against a wall
Wall 1
You are traveling the path God has called you to. You are following and making progress. Maybe you’ve been running and striving to get where you think you need to be faster. One day you run into a wall.
There is no way over or around this wall.
It feels like you will never be able to live the life for Christ you long to live. It’s too hard. It’s not working. You’ll never get it right. You know what’s right but you question if anyone sees Christ in your life.
This is likely a wall that’s foundation was laid in childhood and with the sneaky influence of satan. It’s built with lies about God and His love for you. Lies about yourself. Lies about how the Kingdom of God works.Jesus is ready and willing to take the wall down.
It’s your wall so He needs your permission.
From an adult perspective it may not make sense that you built a wall to stop yourself. Somehow it was intended to protect you. The thing is when we try to protect ourselves we are not trusting God. We’re getting bad information. When we are hurting the enemy is always there trying to help us make sense of things in a way that will keep us stuck in the long run. Without the help, maturity, and discernment to know the difference, walls get built to protect that eventually trap you.Once Jesus has your permission He will dismantle the wall in whatever way He chooses. Along with your permission you may need to forgive, repent, break wrong agreements or something else as you sit in His presence.
Wall 2
You have been following God’s call, walking the path He laid out for you. Now you feel He is calling you higher, to more. But you feel like you’ve hit a wall.
The doodle of this is walking a path in the mountains and coming to a cliff. The trail seems to dead end right in front you.
Doubt floods in.
Did You say to go this way? Haven’t I been obeying? Did I get it wrong?
Then the accusations.
You never should have come this way. Why did you think you could make it? Who do you think you are anyway?
You are tempted to stop. It feels hopeless and pointless. Impossible.
If you keep going you will see that when you get to the cliff there is a hidden stair cut in the mountain that goes to the next level. You can;t see it because you’re not there yet or because God is calling you to pivot. You need to turn, to shift your focus off the cliff to see the stairs.
You haven’t been wrong.
You needed to come this way to get to the stairs. The steps to get to the next level. There may be relationships, good ideas, things that worked in the past that need to be left behind to ascend the stairs. It doesn’t mean they were wrong or bad, just not for this part of the journey.

69: How to Get Out of Your Pit: Discussion with Brenda Schumman
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
06/02/23 • 34 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
What do you do when things go wrong?
Do you have a meltdown?
No judgment, I've been there, too. Very recently, in fact.
The conversation with Brenda starts with how she responded differently and her journey to get there.
We discussed "little girl lies" (Brenda's term) and how they come about.
We talked about what we make things mean.
The new, the healing, only comes by walking it out because that is what rewires the brain.
In your relationship with the Lord are you like a toddler? Is it maturing?
There is another way to look at life
Let's go deeper. Let's go in another direction.
More About Brenda
Brenda has a Master's Degree in Social Work with 18+ years in trauma and attachment treatment. She's a Mom to grown daughters. An author. Loves to empower people in their kingdom identity and purpose. And gets the privilege to love hard the children, teens, and women that God has entrusted her with as a missionary in Honduras.

100: Decluttering the Emotional Closet: A Path to Resilience and Peace
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
04/16/24 • 26 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
Ever had a moment where a spilled coffee or a missed bus sent you into an emotional tailspin? You're not alone. On this episode, join me, Mukkove Johnson, as we delve into the world of repressed emotions and how they can disrupt our lives in unexpected ways. I'll share my own stories of emotional eruptions over seemingly trivial matters and what they've taught me about the unattended emotional needs that simmer beneath our day-to-day awareness. We’ll explore techniques to tune into these hidden signals, using physical sensations as clues, to better understand and address our innermost needs.
Our emotional closets can become as cluttered as a teenager's bedroom, but there's hope for tidying up. We discuss the parallels between physical and emotional hoarding and how to sift through years of stored feelings that may be affecting our peace of mind. From prayer and journaling to meaningful conversations, we'll cover an array of methods to begin decluttering our internal spaces. And we won't stop there; we'll also examine the strength found in taking small steps towards emotional resilience. By isolating challenges and conquering them one by one, we learn to manage our feelings effectively, setting the stage for a more harmonious and structured life.

56: You're Setting an Example: Young Warriors Are Watching
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
04/18/23 • 7 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
What example are you setting for the young warriors who are watching?
God has called you to be a warrior. He has called your child to be a warrior, too.
My word for 2023 is Warrior. I watched Wonder Woman (2017 Warner Bros.) in January and the Lord showed me so many lessons about being a warrior and raising warriors. I'll be sharing some of those insights in the next few Tuesday episodes.
The young warriors are watching and being trained every day. You can do that intentionally or unintentionally. They are watching and picking up skills and beliefs all the time.
They are blessed even by our mistakes when we model how to clean them up.

82: Embracing Divine Love: Understanding and Owning Our Belovedness
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
07/18/23 • 8 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
Have you ever pondered upon the depth of the love the Lord has for us and how it transforms our view of ourselves?
This revealing discussion is about that epiphany - a powerful realization of my journey, embracing divine love and subsequently learning to genuinely love myself. I paint a vivid picture through the profound message in the song Belovedness by Sarah Koger, which has become a cherished anthem for me. Prepare yourself for a deeper exploration of self-love, faith, and the exhilarating experience of owning our belovedness.
During this conversation, I also delve into the beautiful song I am Your Beloved by Jonathan David & Melissa Helser, reinforcing our need to acknowledge ourselves as the cherished ones of the Lord.
What do you need to do to own your belovedness?
The true essence of love is doing what's best for the ones we love. There is a difference between self-love and selfishness. We are called to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39). The Father loves us as much as He loves Jesus (John 17:23).
Join me on this enlightening journey towards truly understanding and owning our belovedness.

46: Breaking the Cycle of Trauma - Interview with DWayanna Gore
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
01/05/23 • 51 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
It was an honor to interview DWayanna and help her share her story of trauma and God's beautiful redemption.
Dee's story is one of breaking generational curses and healing from trauma.
She encountered God through fasting and praying, enabling her to heal from her experiences. By establishing a deeper relationship with God, she was able to share her story of being raped with supportive friends.
Ultimately, her friend validated her experience with a message of God’s assurance and love. This inspired Dee to want to use her own experiences to help others understand that there is a life of blessings on the other side of the traumas they have endured.
Dee believes "skin to skin" time with God can break generational curses and help cultivate a greater sense of safety and connection with our Creator. Through this, Dee believes we can create a safe and supportive environment to transform our society for generations to come.

97: Embracing Your Mistakes: The Heart Doodling Path to Self-Compassion and Growth
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
03/26/24 • 12 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
How do you talk to yourself when you make a mistake?
Is it kind and encouraging? Is it helpful?
If you talked to a friend the way you talk to yourself would you still be friends?
For so many years the answer was no. No it was not kind. No it wasn’t helpful. No, I wouldn’t have any friends if I spoke to them the way I spoke to myself.
It’s ironic that as I try to write this I am debating if it is better to go find what I’ve already written on this topic or to start over. And if I start over do I write or do I talk it out first? What’s the “best” way to do this? Because I’m afraid of making a mistake...
There is no best way. The best way is to write, something, somehow. Not keep thinking about writing, not keep looking for things I think I said or where I think I covered this before. If I remember them and decide to include them that’s fine. Right now it’s time to write. Not to refine and produce a finished piece. It’s time to write. To get thoughts out of my head so I can work with them until they are ready to share with you.
One of the ways I fight this drive to always do everything in the “best” way is through Heart Doodling with Jesus. In her free workshop, Maritza Parra teaches the concept of using a permanent marker to doodle and watercolor paint to paint your doodles. Her reasoning is to create the practice of accepting mistakes as part of the learning process. I have found this to be a powerful practice and encourage anyone trying Heart Doodling with Jesus to do the same.
Now there’s a voice inside that needs to be silenced. This voice tells me it’s bad unless it’s perfect, and it’s never perfect. This voice tells me if I don’t do well people will leave. It tells me if I cause problems they will leave. I silence that voice everytime I pick up my permanent marker and make an imperfect doodle. Everytime I keep going with a lopsided box, the head of my little Ava-Doodle wonky instead of round, I keep writing when I spelled a word wrong. I keep the message from the Lord even when the paint ran and no one but me knows what the picture was anyway.
Mistakes are okay. They are normal. They are part of learning. We practice. As we practice we will make mistakes.
Heart Doodling with Jesus gives you small, safe practice at many skills you may have missed growing up. Using the permanent marker and watercolor paints give you practice in seeing mistakes are part of learning. Mistakes don’t ruin things. I’ll talk more about that in Don’t Start Over Sit with It.

25: Christmas - St. Nicholas - Serve Jesus by Giving
Kingdom Mothers Rise Up
12/05/22 • 1 min
I'd love to hear from you! Text me
December 5th
St. Nicholas
Serve Jesus by Giving
Remember this: The person who plants a little will have a small harvest. But the person who plants a lot will have a big harvest. Each one should give, then, what he has decided in his heart to give. He should not give if it makes him sad. And he should not give if he thinks he is forced to give. God loves the person who gives happily. 2 Corinthians 9:6, 7
Everywhere you look at Christmas time you see Santa Claus or St. Nicholas. Did you ever wonder why? The real Santa Claus, St. Nicholas, was born in Turkey long ago. He loved God very much, even as a boy. He loved to give gifts. The government did not like Christians and Nicholas was put in prison for being a Christian. Nicholas is remembered for his love of children and his giving. He saved people from slavery and hunger. People that knew about him thought he was good enough to be made a saint in the Catholic Church. So he became St. Nicholas. His name and the traditions surrounding him are different all over the world. The important thing to remember is that Nicholas loved Jesus and shared Jesus’s love with others by giving his money and his time. Is there any way you and your family can give to God by helping people in need this Christmas?
