Carl Denke, the forgotten cannibal, was a German serial killer who kept a ledger recording his kills in Munsterberg, Germany. Denke was a failed farmer who turned to cannibalism and sold meat, possibly human, at his shop. He was also a cross-bearer and organist at a local Lutheran church. Denke's crimes were discovered after he attempted to kill a drifter who escaped and alerted the police. He was arrested but hanged himself in his holding cell. The police found evidence of his murders and cannibalism in his home.

Michael Sharpe was a convicted serial killer who committed his first known crime in 1975. He was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison but was granted early parole. In 1982, he kidnapped and raped Brenda Broadway and her two daughters, killing Broadway and one of her daughters. He was later arrested, convicted, and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Kristi Elm. He was also sentenced to death for the murder of Brenda Broadway. There is speculation that Sharpe may have committed more murders, but he was never charged for them. He was executed in 1997.
