Kerusso Daily Devotional - Getting Personal With Jesus

Getting Personal With Jesus

05/12/21 • 1 min

Kerusso Daily Devotional

As we talk through the Good News of Jesus this week, we must always make it personal. In other words, deciding to believe in Christ is a very personal thing.

We all come from different backgrounds and belief systems. In the end, though, what will you do with the story of Jesus? Do you believe it is true?

Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Over and over in the New Testament, Jesus talks to the individual. He knew us before we were born, and knows all the things that keep us up at night, or burden us.

In Matthew chapter 11, Jesus tells us that if we are tired and just beaten down by life, we can tell Him that, and He will hear our cry. Have you tried that before?

Have you ever said to yourself, “I have nothing to lose?? This could be the most exciting and important day of your life, depending on what you choose to believe about Christ as savior. If the claims of Christ are true, then your story just got way more interesting!

Let’s pray. Lord, you care so much about us as individuals. Thank you for loving us this much! Amen.

Jesus Is the Standard

When we as Christians talk about the saving power of Jesus, what exactly do we mean?

In our discussion this week of this all-important topic, are we clear about who Jesus is?

Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

The facts are that Adam and Eve broke their faith in God by disobeying Him. Some dispute that this even happened in history, or some are just upset that God would demand complete obedience. But if we believe He is the Creator, we understand that He set the rules.

Because of that original sin, it became necessary for someone to pay the penalty for sin. God hates sin, and so He sent Jesus to earth as a human to save mankind. Eventually, He would be crucified and in this way, paid the blood penalty that God demands. As we read in Romans 10:9–10, Jesus is the path back to God.

He longs to save us.

Let’s pray. Lord, there are competing views in this world, but you have set Jesus as the standard. Help us pass on this knowledge. Amen.

God's Astonishing Love 4U

Of the many gods throughout world history, almost none of them seem to care about individuals. They might alter the weather so that crops can’t grow. Or cause some global upheaval.

But only one claims to care about you.

Luke 19:10 says, “For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.”

Isn’t that amazing? The story is that Jesus left His place of royalty in heaven to come to Earth as an innocent baby, then grow into a man ready to carry our sins for us. He came to find you! You! God sent Him on a search-and-rescue mission.

As we continue our look this week into the Good News—or, the True Story of Jesus—we begin to see that He is powerful: so powerful He can concentrate fully on each of us. That is astonishing. And comforting.

We can say that we choose Christ, but it is more accurate to say that He looked for us and found us. He sees the heart. He spends time healing your heart and your life. It’s why the imagery of a shepherd tending to his sheep is used so often in Scripture.

Our great God stands alone as the champion of the individual. Praise God!

Let’s pray. Lord, your love for us has no limits. We are given your grace and mercy every day. Thank you so much for that! Amen.
