Hi Weirdos!
Welcome to our favorite time of the year!! Time to tell GHOST STORIES! This is another edition of LISTENER GHOST STORIES-- where Lauren and Ashley tell each other REAL LIFE spooky stories either sent in by YOU, the listener or found on different online forums we are a part of. This time 'round we are encountering a LOT of different oddities-- ghost children, haunted sheds, astral projection, near death experiences, guardian angels, light beings, glitches in the matrix, lost time and SO much more!! Thank you to all of the wonderful weirdos who allowed us to tell your stories. Thank you to Vivek Abishek for creating the music you hear in this episode. Thank you to freesound dot org for supplying the sound effects. If YOU have a strange/scary/unexplainable story you'd like to hear on this show email it to us at keepitweirdpodcast at gmail dot com with Listener Ghost Stories in the subject line! As usual, these episodes are usually best enjoyed with a pair of headphones, a warm blanket and all of the lights turned on....

Happy Halloween, Weirdos!!
As usual, our Halloween special is a fan favorite- LISTENER GHOST STORIES!! This year we packed in NINE terrifying tales to give you goosebumps and a few nightmares to kick off your special, spooky weekend!
This episode is full of shadowy beings and close encounters. And in the end we're left wondering who the hell they are. Are they paranormal? Supernatural? Inter-dimensional? Or, possibly even worse... are they completely human? And why the HELL are they in my house!?
Turn off the lights, get under the covers, throw in a set of headphones and turn up the volume and get ready to get scared.

Never Trust a Jellyfish
Keep It Weird: A Strange & Unusual Podcast
05/13/22 • 65 min
No Heart? NO BUTTHOLE?! BIG PROBLEMS!
Hey weirdos, today we're going back to Biology 101 to be reminded of all the things we immediately forgot in high school and learning SO much more. We are joined by our very first guest of the season RACHEL FULLER and each of us are asking a biology question we just HAD to have an answer to.
We ask pretty basic questions like "Why do we hate the sound of nails on a chalkboard?" "Do jellyfish have a brain?" and "Why do we have a dominant hand?" But the answers are SO much more complex and fascinating than you could ever imagine.
From the complex inner workings of our ears to the collaboration of the hemispheres of our brains to some of the strangest (and least trustworthy) creatures in the sea- this episode has something for everyone.

Hi Weirdos!
Welcome to a sneak peek into our fabulous PATREON!! This week Lauren and I are swamped with work, potty training, day care and prepping for our Near Death Experience series starting next week. So instead of leaving you BORED and LONELY we are releasing a previously released Patreon Bonus episode!
This episode is very special to me because it features not one, but TWO, of my best friends in the world. My patreon cohost Amy Hanselmann surprised me with a special guest appearance by my other best friend LEAH CAMPBELL.
Leah is a former MORTICIAN (Muahaha) and she let us pick her brain and ask her all of our burning questions about what it's like to embalm a body (Spoiler alert: Tales from the Crypt lied to me) her strangest funeral stories, the worst body mishap, and the politics and hopeful future of the death service industry.
And to round it all out I (Ashley) also get to talk about eels! We hope you enjoy this look into our private world and that maybe it encourages you to finally join our patreon if you were on the fence before!

Grab your tin foil hats and your barf bags, you're in for a rough one!
Hi weirdos welcome to another episode of KEEP IT WEIRD, the podcast for all things strange and unusual. Each week we get together to chat about something WEIRD and sometimes GROSS and this week it's GROSS!
Ashley starts us off with a REAL OR HOAX segment featuring the sad, strange and especially sick story of Mary Toft- a servant who lived in the 1700s who tried to make it out of her impoverished life with a fraud so vile it's hard to even type it up. Let's just say it involves innocent bunnies being shoved up a vagina. There's no way to beat around that bush.
Lauren swoops in to save the day with a CONSPIRACY THEORY that Queen Elizabeth I wasn't quite herself. In fact, she was so much so not herself that she was a man. Sure, part of the reasoning behind this conspiracy theory is misogynistic AF - but it's interesting nonetheless.
Debbie Downer brings us down again with a new segment called JEEPERS CREEPERS (I hate this so much) in which we discuss an incurable genetic disease called Fatal Familial Insomnia that kills you in less than a year by ENSURING you never enter REM again. And REM is my favorite part of sleep!
And finally, Lauren fails to cheer us up by taking us on a trip for a WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KEEP IT WEIRD GOING segment-- and Back to Tokyo we go! But this time there is no delicious Ramen. There is only hell. Meet us at the hottest date spot in Japan- the Meguro Parasitological Museum! Or you can call it by it's shorter name-- THE PARASITE MUSEUM. Home of the world's longest tapeworm!

H i w e i r d o s,
you know that feeling when you get a rush of nostalgia but you're also creeped out? When the hairs stand up on the back of your neck but you aren't in any danger? Ever get goosebumps thinking about a dark school hallway lined with lockers?
YEAH SAME!! Today we're continuing our discussion on weirdly haunted locations and Ashley is starting us off with the concept of LIMINAL SPACES. Hallways, rest stops, empty offices, abandoned malls, hell- even bathrooms. Theres just something about them that feel off...
And Lauren takes over to share some more haunted places that just should NOT be haunted. K-Marts, Toys R Us, skyscrapers, grocery stores and even malls filled with strange activity.. for.. some.. reason.
Get ready to feel creeped out every where you go!

Diary of a Female Serial Kari
Keep It Weird: A Strange & Unusual Podcast
02/18/17 • 84 min
In this episode, Lauren and Ashley sit down with their very first FEMALE guest, Kari, and discuss Ladies who kill! We all pick our favorite female serial killers throughout history and talk about what makes female serial killers different and similar to their male counterparts... and we sing. A lot.
DISCLAIMER: This episode has a weird audio problem! Starting at about minute 10 and going to about minute 20 there is a strange popping sound-- we've tried everything to remove this sound but weren't able to fix it! We didn't want to cut it out, because theres a lot of weird/cool information shared, but if you can't handle it skip ahead to minute 21 and you'll be in the clear!

Quarter Past a Cricket's Leg
Keep It Weird: A Strange & Unusual Podcast
06/14/24 • 71 min
Hi Weirdos! Or should I say... high weirdos?
Welcome to a very special episode of KEEP IT WEIRD– your one stop shop for all things strange and unusual, stoned and spooky, blitzed and bonkers & everything in between.
What makes this week so special is that it’s our BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION for the best co host that side (or THIS side) of the Mississippi. Lauren and Ashley have been best friends for going on fifteen years now (EW how did we get so old) and were sick and tired of not being able to PARTY TOGETHER on special occasions.
So we did a little “gardening” and poured ourselves some fruity beverages and set off to BLOW EACH OTHERS MINDS with some absolutely crazy science, biology, history and trivia.
We cover how stars and planets are made, how many blimps we have on Earth, how you can tell the temperature based on a cricket’s chirp, which famous horror director had to say goodbye to his bellybutton, an ancient city full of skyscrapers that you didn’t know existed, where the sound comes from when we snap our fingers, and even alligators who can gallop faster than Gunpowder (that’s Ichabod Crane’s horse... obviously)
So buckle your seatbelts, maybe take a toke or two yourself, relax, melt into the couch, WAIT too much melting. Don’t forget to breathe. Yes you ARE breathing. Chill out, relax, meeeelt into the couch. There we go. Open your mind to weirdness. Let it flow through you.
