314. STRIPTEASE (1996)
Karate in the Garage
01/19/24 • 34 min
MOORE MOORE MOORE!!! rambles on down to Florida to dive into 1996's Striptease! With what may be the most well rounded supporting players of the four movies we're covering this month, we've got Burt Reynolds, Armand Assante, Ving Rhames, and Robert Patrick as Demi Moore's dirtbag ex-husband.
From IMDB: A stripper and single mother gets dragged into a dangerous situation after a congressman takes a fancy to her.ENJOY!
YES. SAG-AFTRA HAVE FINALLY JOINED THE WGA, AND HAS COME TO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE AMPTP. IT'S BEEN A VERY LONG AND UPHILL BATTLE FOR NOT JUST THE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES OF BOTH UNIONS, IT HAS ALSO CAUSED A GREAT DEAL OF HARDSHIP FOR THE REST OF THE INDUSTRY'S PROFESSIONALS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
BUT ALL ISN'T BACK TO NORMAL AND WON'T BE FOR SOME TIME. THESE WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE GOING TO BE STRUGGLING WHILE THE INDUSTRY STARTS REMEMBERING HOW TO WORK. THE OVERWHELMING BURDEN OF PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE AND A ROOF OVER ONE'S HEAD DOESN'T END WHEN THE DEALS ARE MADE OR EVEN RATIFIED.
THE INDUSTRY'S USUAL HIATUS/SHUTDOWN THIS MONTH IS MOST LIKELY GOING TO EXTEND ANY KIND OF BREAK FROM "NORMALCY" IN THE FREQUENCY OF WORK. IT COULD EVEN BE MONTHS INTO 2024 BEFORE PRODUCTIONS GET UP TO SPEED AGAIN. BUT EVEN IF THEY WORK THROUGH THAT USUAL "HOLIDAY HIATUS", FOR MANY FAMILIES THEY ARE GOING TO CONTINUE TO NEED ASSISTANCE, EVEN IF THEY RETURN TO WORK. THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP.
IF YOU HAVE A FEW DOLLARS TO SPARE, PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO THE ENTERTAINMENT COMMUNITY FUND. THE FUND HELPS ALL WORKERS AFFECTED BY THE STRIKE, NOT JUST ACTORS AND WRITERS.

Un. Deux. Trois. Number #3 to BREAK the mold for FEB-BRU-BURIED we have the final result of Season 3 of Project Greenlight: John Gulager's FEAST!
From IMDB: Patrons locked inside a bar are forced to fight monsters.
ENJOY!

288. THE ORDER (2003)
Karate in the Garage
10/13/23 • 40 min
The Devil Made Me Do It continues with what we've determined is a little seen movie that is the YOUNGEST of the movies covered this month: THE ORDER from Brian Helgeland, who wrote and directed this in 2003.
This one reunites three actors from Helgeland's 2001 A Knight's Tale: Heath Ledger, Shannyn Sossamon, and Mark Addy. Joining that trio is Benno Fuhrmann and the legend Peter Weller. From IMDB: A young priest is sent to Rome to investigate the troubling death of the head of his order.
WHILE IT'S TRUE THE WGA STRIKE IS OVER, AND EVEN IF SAG GETS THEIR'S TOGETHER, WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES ARE GOING TO BE STRUGGLING FOR A WHILE. THE OVERWHELMING BURDEN OF PUTTING FOOD ON THE TABLE AND A ROOF OVER ONE'S HEAD DOESN'T END THE INSTANT THE DEALS ARE RATIFIED.
IT COULD BE MONTHS BEFORE PRODUCTIONS GET UP TO SPEED AGAIN. THAT LEADS RIGHT INTO THE INDUSTRY'S USUAL WINTER/HOLIDAY HIATUS. WILL THAT BE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR? WHO KNOWS. BUT EVEN IF THEY WORK THROUGH THAT USUAL BREAK, MANY FAMILIES ARE GOING TO NEED ASSISTANCE.

312. DISCLOSURE (1994)
Karate in the Garage
01/14/24 • 40 min
We're BACK with MOORE, MOORE, MOORE!!! with Movie #2 DISCLOSURE!
Demi Moore continues her reign of owning the 1990s with a powerhouse performance from her as Meredith Johnson stepping into a company and becoming former lover Michael Douglas' boss, nabbing a job her was expecting to get.
Along with those two leads, Director Barry Levinson assembles a who's who of 80s and 90s supporting performers in Donald Sutherland, Dylan Baker, Roma Maffia, Dennis Miller and young Donald Logue.
FROM IMDB: A computer specialist is sued for sexual harassment by a former lover turned boss who initiated the act forcefully, which threatens both his career and his personal life.ENJOY!
