Ep. 240: Where They Look Away by Geoffrey Marshall
Kaidankai: Ghost and Supernatural Stories
02/14/24 • 54 min
Geoffrey Marshall is a writer in Aurora, Canada. He knows just enough to be dangerous (mostly to himself) in several different fields. You can find his work in The Ansible, Academy of the Heart and Mind and the September 2022 issue of MoonPark Review. His education never really took, through no fault of his instructors (debatable) but he did manage to acquire a BA in English Literature from Carleton University. Find him on twitter @g_k_marshall.

A Quintana dos Mortos in Love by Rosemary Thorne
Kaidankai: Ghost and Supernatural Stories
08/30/23 • 6 min
Rosemary Thorne is a Spanish bilingual writer living in Madrid, Spain, who has spent her entire life producing fiction in her mother tongue, with not much local professional encouragement. That’s why in 2019 she became a HWA member and began to think Horror in English terms. It’s worth mentioning that she was born in 1968, year of shocking revolutions, beautiful women and great red wine, and that’s why she doesn’t give up: she has published her first novel in Spain in December 2021, and her goal for 2022 is to have it translated into several languages and to populate the world with her monsters. A group of men have been childhood friends from way back. Now, they meet every week over poker. A chance comment inspires one of them to call his childhood phone number, bringing back old, tragic memories and sending him on an adventure he will never forget.
As a child of the 50s, Stewart Bernstein spent too many afternoons in darkened theaters watching horror movies like "Them," "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms," "Dracula," "Frankenstein,", "Rocket Ship X-M”, the “Flash Gordon” serials, and too many hours in front of the TV watching shows like, “Science Fiction Theater”, “The Twilight Zone” and later on, “Tales From The Crypt”. After retiring from law, he now has the time to incorporate in his writings the themes and feelings from those old time sci-fi movies and TV shows that still haunt him.

Kaidankai: Ghost and Supernatural Stories
09/13/21 • 10 min
Linn Woodard is retired and living in Wisconsin. Although not a professional writer, she began recording her personal thoughts in a daily diary in fifth grade. As an adult she wrote a weekly column for a small newspaper in New Castle, Delaware, called “Personal Glimpses” where she could share her random comments with a wider readership. She now writes a blog “Personal Glimpses...Musings from Milwaukee” as a way to satisfy the continuing need to put thoughts to paper....and sometimes, just sometimes, a dream becomes a blog entry.
Cat Scratch Fever is read by Anneliese Nakahara-Knight, who lives in Tokyo and helps people of all ages and backgrounds get in touch with their musical selves through the power of their voice and body. www.albamusictogether.com

Anne Watson has been writing, in one form or another, all her life, most recently focusing on fiction. She’s written news articles, book and art reviews, blogs, documentary films, podcasts, and for radio. She has two blogs, echolaliaredacted.com, which meanders through life's joys and sorrows; and countriesandcobblestones.com about traveling for a year with her daughter. Her writing can also be found on Canada's National Observer. Her first book,Thin Lines of Broken Time, represented by Anne Depue, is looking for a publisher. She’s currently working on a second book.
The music in this podcast is performed by Earle Peach, a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and songwriter from Vancouver who directs choirs and plays in musical groups, volunteers at and hosts music events, pursues social activism, and is still actively involved in the folk music community.
The voice of the historian is Tim Gould (my wonderful and helpful husband. He also wrote and performed the Kaidankai's opening music.)
