Just Keep Jamming: The Podcast

Anuhea

Aloha everyone! My name is Anuhea and I'm a musician and singer born and raised on Maui, Hawai'i.

This podcast is all about keeping it real and having fun. There are no rules, just honest conversations about life. In each episode, a special guest and I will talk about a different topic and share our thoughts and opinions, and also some insight from the lessons we've all learned. Life is hard sometimes... but it's all about the journey, and we gotta keep moving forward. JUST KEEP JAMMING!

My goals are this:

-to keep listeners and Patreon peeps connected and engaged in a safe, supportive space

-to be open, honest, and transparent about my feelings and opinions

-to provide valuable takeaways and lessons for everyday life

-to promote mental health awareness, which will foster a positive change in the world

-to have fun

After recording 31 episodes and then taking a little hiatus, I'm thrilled to be back and producing these JKJ podcasts for season 3, this time with some fantastic improvements to the production and content.
I aim to continue making a positive impact through the power of connection, and I'm excited to see where this podcast will take us!

I hope you love it!
Aloha always,
Anuhea

play

12/05/23 • 58 min

Join us on a magical journey with E.N Young, a talented musician, producer, father, and husband from Southern California. We will reminisce about our first meeting, the tours that followed, his solo performance in Hawaii, and his journey into music production that began with a passion for vinyl. Our conversation will offer a glimpse into the life of a musician beyond the stage spotlight.

Engage in a soulful symphony of laughter and camaraderie as we discuss our shared love for music and the excitement of our upcoming All is Bright tour. Together, we emphasize the need to shun social comparison, practice self-care, and amplify positivity. Our dialogue resonates with the message of staying present in the moment, embracing gratitude, and nurturing mental health along with our creative pursuits.

We explore life's mysteries, spirituality, and the complex symphony of the human mind. We go through topics from aliens to exercise, parenting to quitting smoking, and the importance of self-awareness in relationships. We offer insights into the industry, the challenges of parenting, and the courage to take life by the horns.

E,N. and I also introduce our upcoming All is Bright Holiday Tour that kicks off on Friday in Portland, and a new song released by Kimie and I titled "Red, Gold and Green." (See all our All is Bright Tour Dates here!)
So buckle up and get ready for liftoff, for this ride of music, laughter, and profound insights on the Just Keep Jamming Podcast!

Welcome back!!
Follow me as I unpack the third season of our Just Keep Jamming podcast. I will be sharing my experiences on the challenges, successes, and the desire to create a nurturing space for my child at home, as well as for open dialogue on a podcast that is more than what it seems. Our journey together offers not only an engaging listening experience but also life lessons and a platform for mental health awareness. We'll explore the art of revisiting dreams, the joy of new endeavors, and the unexpected inspiration from unlikely places. Additionally, we'll toast to Josh Cabernet Sauvignon, our wine of the week. We'll also touch on heartwarming initiatives that have helped raise $50,000 for Maui families affected by the fires. Lastly, we'll groove to the 'song of the week' from the Judds, 'Love Can Build a Bridge', as we anticipate my upcoming All is Bright Tour. So, let's hit play and jam together, celebrating the shared human experience that brings us closer.
That was written by AI! Pretty cool huh? Gonna try this out to save time until i can find an actual human co-host and editor. Taking applications ;)

Just Keep Jamming: The Podcast - Episode 26 - Kimié Miner and 12 tips on how to LET IT GO.
play

02/16/22 • 56 min

Hey everyone!
It is not easy to let go of things that live in your mind. Situations that affected you emotionally, negative thoughts, past worries, anxieties, the people who came and left-- all of it takes up valuable space in there. But I wanted to learn how to truly LET THAT SHIT GO.
"Letting go" is the process of freeing yourself from obsessing thoughts and unhappy feelings.
In this episode we talk with my right besticle, Miss Kimie Miner about some tips on how to let it go. (Cue the Frozen song... Let it goooo... let it gooooo!!).
Tips for letting go:
1. Create a positive mantra to counter the painful thoughts
2. Create physical distance
3. Do your own work
4. Practice mindfulness
5. Be gentle with yourself
6. Allow the negative emotions to flow
7. Accept that the other person may not apologize
8. Engage in self-care
9. Surround yourself with people who fill you up
10. Give yourself permission to talk about it
11. Give yourself permission to forgive
12. Seek professional help
These 12 tips helped us go through our own personal blockages in letting go. Loved hearing Kimie's perspective on how this applies to her relinquishing control within her busy mom life. And I found some insight as it applied to my former-friend-drama situation, so that I can fill that empty space (or "puka" as Todd called it) with something else... possibly even something better.
This week we recommend the books
Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukov
and also
Let That Shit Go by Nina Purewal & Kate Petriw

We're back after a two week hiatus for Just Keep Jamming Episode 8! Disclaimer: I am a total potty mouth this episode, so maybe don't have your kids listen to this one lol.
👯‍♀️ I chat with one of my amazing friends, Ashton Miyako, body empowerment photographer, entrepreneur and single mom doing her thang.

💪 We talk about a very special "Goddess" photo shoot she did with her 5 year old son, and expand on the variety of lessons we have the opportunity to teach our young ones.

🧠 I give you a mental health update on my first (extremely long awaited) psychiatry appointment, and what his diagnosis and treatment suggestion is.

🍷 I share with you the ups and downs of my weekend of shows in wine country 2 weeks ago, and come clean about my choices with alcohol.
🎶 I share some Disneyland stories, including a fight, a BIG surprise, tears of joy, a soaking wet purse, and vowing never to return to Disneyland un-medicated again. 😅
Thanks to all who have been jamming along with us! Here's the link to my Patreon if you want to join us live in the Zoom room. We record at 6pm HST on Tuesdays! https://www.patreon.com/anuheajams
Follow Ashton Miyako on Instagram @ashtonmiyako and if you ever can, book a photo session with her, she's ah-fricken-mazing!!

Another teary therapy sesh for your newly sober sister over here.
We reference some amazing Brené Brown quotes about BOUNDARIES and how I can apply these ideas to my slightly out-of-control life right now.
“Daring to set boundaries is about having the courage to love ourselves, even when we risk disappointing others.” ― Brené Brown

"Living a connected life ultimately is about setting boundaries, spending less time and energy hustling and winning over people who don't matter, and seeing the value of working on cultivating connection with family and close friends." ― Brené Brown

"When we fail to set boundaries and hold people accountable, we feel used and mistreated. This is why we sometimes attack who they are, which is far more hurtful than addressing a behavior or a choice." ― Brené Brown

"I'm never more courageous than when I'm embracing imperfection, embracing vulnerabilities, and setting boundaries with the people in my life." ― Brené Brown

I talk about anxiety and how my anxiety caused me to lose a big money contract I had set up for the entire year. But realizing that I didn't really want it anyway, cause I'm putting energy into what MATTERS :)
We also talk about former star UH Quarterback Colt Brennen and his tragic death on Tuesday. :(
UGH!
I also talk about my songs "Here I Go Again" and "Walk on Water". Go to the official Just Keep Jamming spotify playlist to listen to the music i talk about on the podcast.
