How to Stop Listening to Music (struggling with music addiction, tips and tricks, positive impacts, etc.)
Journey to Jannah
12/22/23 • 26 min
In this episode we explore ways to stop listening to music. Recognizing this as an addiction is the first step. It's a tough journey; it requires discipline and mental effort. But the moment you realize that music isn’t essential for contentment and that you’re doing this for the sake of Allah, the struggle becomes worthwhile.
Understanding why we're quitting music is vital. Yes, it's haram, and while some argue over its permissibility, the message is clear: modern music isn’t in line with Islamic teachings. Allah has forbidden it for a reason – it creates an artificial happiness, affecting our devotion in prayer and, consequently, our faith.
We go over being mindful of what enters our mental space from platforms such as TikTok, and controlling what we consume, replacing music with halal alternatives like Quran or lectures, gradually decreases our reliance on it.
