Then Bob Smith, Donny Laible and John review the WEVD broadcast from January 1992. Donny Laible is in the studio back then with Mike Omansky, long time friend and at the time, Head of WorldWide Entertainment Marketing. Trivia challenges are given to the listeners for prizes. Welcome to episode 13 of Pro Wrestling Spotlight Rewind - where we look back at classic shows from the archives of John Arezzi, going back to the very early days of pro wrestling talk on the radio. On this episode - we will review show #13 show which aired on 1440 WNYG in Babylon, NY on July 2nd, 1989.

The review of this show brought a lot of comparisons to what PWS eventually became - which was a true insiders radio program. But that was not the case in July 1989. From Broadway Sonny Blaze and John discussing the "new" East Coast Wrestling (ECW) organization that was starting up on Long Island and wrestlers being contacted by them (the promotion never got off the ground), to the worked interviews with Indy women wrestlers, to John promoting next week's exclusive interview with Terry Funk - the whole show was one big work! Listen for the first reference ever of the "Great American Nightmare" when 1989 John discusses Dusty Rhodes and his vignettes in the WWF.

On this episode we review the August 8th, 1992 editions of Pro Wrestling Spotlight, broadcast from the studios of WEVD AM in New York City.

This is an explosive show - with John Arezzi responding to a false report on the Coach Kurt (Schneider) wrestling line, which said that Bruno Sammartino, and a number of advertised guests for the upcoming Weekend of Champions Wrestling convention, would not be there! John also responds to his view that Vince Russo had a hand in these false reports. John gets a call from Bruno Sammartino during the show to respond to these reports. And John makes the announcement of him being selected to host "The Wrestling Insiders" nationally syndicated radio show! A very newsworthy show!

Welcome to Episode 16 of Pro Wrestling Spotlight Rewind. As we close out 2024 - we go way back into the archives and share the original episode of John Arezzi's Pro Wrestling Spotlight, which aired on 1240 AM WGBB in West Babylon on December 29th, 1991!

Show 140 turns out to be the last on WGBB until 1994! The show has a cliff hanger ending, with the audience not knowing if new executive producer VINCE RUSSO and I we will be back on WGBB in January 1992, or move to a new station, WEVD 1050 AM in New York City. In Studio guests are the always obnoxious and insulting THE POWER TWINS.

Plus we cover highlights from the past few years with many classic moments with Terry Funk, Cactus Jack, the unforgettable argument Paul E. Dangerously had with a listeners Mom, Lucious Johnny Valiant with Ivan Koloff, and many more! We also take calls from the listeners. A historic end to the WGBB run.
